Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

Our neighbour hood is very friendly with lots of young families and older residents. People are courteous and helpful and generally very lovely to be around. There's enough to keep you occupied but it's not too busy and easy to relax on holiday. There's everything you'd need for a leisurely break and if you wanted to head to London, you can be there in 1 hour door to door! We also have the euro tunnel port of Folkestone within 30 minutes so Europe is easily accessible for a longer stay.

Attractions

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home

There are many attractions for families with young children or adult guests. Tenterden is known as "The jewel of the Weald" it is beautiful all year round but especially at Christmas and in Summer. We have numerous children activities from tennis courts and a pool or the steam railway within a 5 minute walk to 9 + vineyard with 2 miles of our town. There are beautiful forests and walks, many of which have a pub at the end! Traditional English pubs and village greens are all around. Most pubs in Tenterden have great food and there are many restaurants options, depending on how far you want to go! 10 minutes drive takes you to a rare breed animal centre which is a full day out for young children. My son still talks fondly of days spent here. My children loved it when they were little and still mention Toby the horse or the GIANT rabbit. Or if you're feeling adventurous, 40 minutes gets you to Port Lympn wild life park where wild animals roam free on the planes overlooking the sea. Our closest beach is 25 minutes drive but there are rivers to swim in, bridge jumping, SUP's, canoes or kayaks to hire, all just 10 minutes away. Bring rural England we are also awash with castles and stately homes, the closest being Sissinghurst, Bodium or Leeds. You can take a boat to Bodium from near by and combine some activity with some history and finish the day at the pub.... of which there are too many to mention.
