Rural setting short walk to village shop and Post Office. Good cross country walks. Own transport necessary to reach places and cities of historical interest. Not far away there are lakes, rivers, tennis and horseback riding Public swimming pool and golf as well as cultural events.
Similarly, there is Opera , theatre, cafes and restaurants galleries musems and amusemant Park all within half an hours drive.

Winchester, Chichester and Guildford are cities of historic interest and there a number of Country Houses of historic interest in the area, including Hinton Ampner House and gardens, Petworth Place and Uppark. The Watercress line (Steam Railway) runs services to Medstead and Alresford. Chawton House the home of Jane Austen is just four miles away. Portsmouth historic dockyard is a popular destination and was part of the 75th commemoration of the D Day relief of northern France. Windsor Castle and Ascot are about an hours drive away. London is one hour ten minutes drive from Alton Station.
