I am divorced and live with my partner Gordon in The Lake District. I am a retired Accountant. Gordon was born into a Cumbrian farming family and has also worked as an engineer. We enjoy 'The Great Outdoors' together especially hiking and cycling. The cottage offered is a holiday cottage that I have owned for twenty years. Now that I live nearby it is used by friends and family and is occasionally a holiday let hence lots of flexibility with exchanges.

Spacious 2 bedroom apartment in a period house with many attractive features and beautiful communal gardens. Located in the ancient, thriving, market town of Otley on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. Offers immediate access to the 6 Dales Way and many other beautiful hikes. The apartment has two double bedrooms each with their own bathroom and a spacious lounge area plus modern kitchen and dining area.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
We are on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales offering immediate access to a range of Trails including the Dales Way and the 6 Dales Trail. There is an outdoor market on Tuesdays and Fridays and many convenient shops as well as specialised ones. There is outdoor swimming in the summer in either the river or Ilkley Lido. Nearby are many interesting historical houses. The city of Leeds can easily be reached by train from Menston Station - 2 miles from the apartment with free parking.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
From the apartment it is a short walk into the thriving market town of Otley where there are numerous cafes and shops. The centrepiece of the town is the River Wharfe and the extensive parkland around and along it. If you like a hearty walk - the Chevin, rising to 250 metres is straight out of the town. From the top there are wonderful views of the Wharfe Valley and the Yorkshire Dales.

The apartment is on the second floor of an old house. There is no lift so it only suitable for people with good mobility. The Communal Grounds are only used by the five residents of the house and consideration of others is most important. Three of the apartments have a small patio that is exclusively theirs. Ours looks directly over the lake (nature reserve - no access).
