Description of the home we are offering for exchange
We live in the heart rural Northumberland in the centre of the beautiful village of Rothbury. We have stunning views of the Simonside hills and a house and garden that look over the River Coquet.
Our house has three bedrooms (2 double and 1 single) and a large open plan living room and kitchen and one bathroom (and a utility room /toilet too).
The house accessed from the high street but it looks out over the countryside. This means the town shops are a 3 minute walk away and there are country walks from the house and garden
The house is set on a hill, so there are steps down to the house and into the garden.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Our house is in the centre of the small town but in a quiet spot, away from traffic. Rothbury is a popular place to visit for hill walkers, fell runners and for fishing (the Coquet has salmon, brown and sea trout (permits would need to be purchased). Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
Rothbury is only a 30 minute drive from the fantastic sandy beaches of Northumberland and within an hours drive, there are castles (Bamburgh, Alnwick and Warkworth) and Holy Island.
Northumberland also has many historical houses and sites to visit - the local ones are the Cragside estate and Wallington Hall.
The city of Newcastle is a 40 minute drive away but it is also possible to travel there from Rothbury by bus.
Durham is 1 hour away and Edinburgh, 2 hours (driving times). There cities could also be accessed by train from the nearest station in Morpeth.
The Lake District can be reached in 2 hours.
Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
Obviously, you will arrive to a clean house and we would ask that you leave the house as you find it.
We have two friendly long haired cats who we would ideally ask you to look after. The can access the house via a cat flap so only need feeding twice a day. They are child friendly and affectionate
