Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Originally a Victorian light industrial building, our house is a beautifully converted family home with great architectural detail, and is situated in a quiet street which is part of a conservation area.
Spread over 2 floors, the ground floor has a large open plan living area with kitchen and dining area, a separate TV room with double sofa bed, and a small utility area. The first floor has 2 large double bedrooms (each with a double bed) and a single bedroom. There is a private terrace off the main bedroom and a small paved back garden.
Located very close to Columbia Road Flower Market and within walking distance of Broadway Market, the Regents Canal, London Fields, Victoria Park, Shoreditch and Brick Lane, it has easy access to cafes, restaurants, galleries and museums in this vibrant part of the city.
Excellent rail links are within 10 to 15 minute walks at Bethnal Green (Central Line), Hoxton (East London Line) and Old Street (Northern Line). Bus routes 55 and 26 are a 6 minute walk from the house.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Our house is situated in a conservation area of Victorian houses and is next to a lovely small neighbourhood park used by residents. There is very little through traffic, which makes the area quiet and good for walking. Transport links are good, so a car is not essential.
The independent shops of Columbia Road are 2 minutes away and include coffee shops, 3 restaurants, a pharmacy and 2 corner shops and a number of small independent shops. There are also 2 small supermarkets within a 5 minute walk.
There are four independently owned neighbourhood restaurants including a pizzeria (String Ray), Modern Southern Italian (Campagnia & Jones), Tapas (Laxeiro) and a Modern Iberian Restaurant (Brawn). These are now operating under Covid guidance advice
as of July 2020. A few of the neighbourhood pubs such as the Bird Cage are also open and operating according to Covid distance rules.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
We are situated in one of the most vibrant parts of London with several galleries, museums, restaurants, markets and parks nearby. The closest attraction is the very popular Columbia Road Flower Market which opens on Sundays, selling plants and flowers, homewares and gifts, which has now reopened, and spread over a wider area with distance rules in place.
The area is rich in contemporary street art, which can be found by simply wandering in the area or joining one of the guided tours. Broadway Market and London Fields are a 12 minute walk and Victoria Park can be reached within 20 minutes by walking along the Regents Canal.
The Museum of Childhood and the Whitechapel Art Gallery are approximately 20 minute walks from our house.
The Tate Modern and Millennium Bridge are a 20 minute bus ride or a 45 minute walk.
Most galleries have been opening in July 2020, and working under Covid guidance rules.
Brick Lane and the Georgian architecture of Spitalfields houses are a 12 minute walk from our neighbourhood.
The Geffrye Museum, due to reopen late in 2020, is a 10 minute walk away, and is an interesting museum specialising in the history of the home.
It’s a 10 minute walk to Redchurch Street and Calvert Street, both low key shopping areas with independent fashion, interiors, and beauty stores as well as cafes and cocktail bars.

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
Please enjoy being in our house and look after our things, just as we would take good care of your possessions!
Be kind to our cat, who is gentle, quiet and keeps to himself, mostly sleeping in the upstairs area of our house.
If you would like to feed our cat and water our plants (a few pots upstairs on the terrace and a few more in the back garden), we would appreciate it, but we are happy to arrange this ourselves.
We are flexible, and are open to your suggestions!
