Our Home For Exchange
Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Relaxing family home, vintage furnishing, cats and chickens, 2m wide waterbed, hot tub (spa), multifuel stove, table football, piano, guitars, bass guitar. Lots of Lego.
Walks in the Yorkshire Dales or North York Moors? Trips to York, Haworth (Brontes), Saltaire, Harewood House or Whitby? Or walk to Meanwood Park, have a cold beer overlooking the cricket pitch at The Myrtle Tavern, or go and see all the animals at Meanwood Urban Farm.
Meanwood Community Shop is the greatest charity shop known to humankind. Everyone in Meanwood buys there and takes stuff there - we love it. Nice 5 min walk.
If you would like help and moral support with the chickens, our neighbours would be happy to help.
During the holidays, 9-16 year olds could spend a week being in a band and doing a gig at RockSchoolUK.
Meanwood is a lovely Yorkshire residential area, with good public transport links, local walks and footpaths, and great opportunities to experience Yorkshire culture.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Meanwood is a local community with a church, several good supermarkets, nice cafes, pubs and restaurants, and good public transport links to the city centre. Our house is in a quiet street where children can play safely, and there is a path down to the village centre so children can walk to the little shops by themselves. There is a large park with playground for younger and older children, and a short walk through woodland to a nice village pub which overlooks a scenic cricket ground and some old stone cottages.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
We have three cats and some chickens. It's always good to see if the chickens have laid any eggs! The cats don't mind being stroked sometimes but are not very keen on being picked up. We have lots of lego (please don't take apart Tower Bridge!) and children's books in English for all ages. There is a walk through woodland to The Myrtle Tavern village pub, and the Meanwood Valley Urban Trail, a footpath where you can walk right to the city centre through woodland and across a park. Nearby is Meanwood Valley Urban Farm, which has lots of farm animals, a playground and a cafe, as well as being by a cycle trail which goes to the city centre and is mostly dedicated cycle paths which are not on the road.

Please make yourself at home and feel free to play with the toys and games (although please don't take apart the Lego Tower Bridge!), read our books, stroke our cats. We have a cleaner who comes in once a week, so please just clean up as you go along and leave it clean and tidy when you go. That is what we will do in your home too. If you break anything please replace it or communicate with us if you are not sure what to do.
