Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

We are a family of four and live in a lovely, 110-year-old house which has many original features. Our eldest daughter is now at University but we love travelling together, discovering new and unusual places. We have had nine successful home exchanges to date including Venice, Vancouver, Berlin, and Galicia. We enjoy islands or being near a river or the sea. We also like mountains, walking, museums, history, and city life and are open to all offers.

Harrogate is a beautiful town and is frequently chosen as one of the best places to live in England. We are a 10-minute walk from the town centre and have beautiful countryside and historic castles, abbeys and stately homes on our doorstep. We are also half an hour from Leeds and York. If you'd like to use our home as a base for visiting bigger cities, we are a 10-minute walk from the train station. Harrogate is under 3 hours from London by train and 5 hours from Edinburgh. Car exchange is negotiable. All our visitors have loved Yorkshire and we are sure you will too.

Mark and I have worked in education for over 20 years and make the most of our holidays. We have a lovely, gentle tabby cat who just needs feeding twice a day but will love sitting on your lap whenever you are free. We are happy to look after your pets and plants.

We are also only 28 miles from Howarth where the famous Bronte sisters lived. 15 miles away is the World Heritage site of Fountains Abbey, encompassing the largest abbey ruins in the country and some of England’s most spectacular Georgian water gardens. There are many castles and stately homes to visit in the area, including Harewood House, Newby Hall, and Ripley Castle.
