Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

Beautiful duplex apartment in centre of Glasgow's leafy, yet bustling, West End. Near to Glasgow University, museums and parks, shops, cinema, public transportation, restaurants, cafes, pubs and bakeries.
Our lovely flat is full of authentic Edwardian features including lots of stained glass, wooden floors and panelling. Build in 1904 the property sits within a listed building in an architectural conservation zone. A 'main door flat' it is independent of the other flats in the building and does not share any communal inside space with our neighbours.
Inside, on the main floor, you'll find a double bedroom and the drawing room (with smart TV, board games and lots of books and magazines) with its beautiful bay window. There are two other rooms on this floor which we use for our home offices. A small flight of stairs leads to the top floor family bathroom (with slipper bath (and shower attachment), WC and sink) and the master bedroom with its own en-suite shower room, WC and sink. The master bed is king sized.
A second set of stairs, leading downstairs from the main floor, goes to a large ground level kitchen and pantry with both a gas fired AGA range and a conventinal gas cooker with ovens and a gas hob. The kitchen has large fridge/freezer, dishwasher and beautiful double butler sink. We love to cook so there's a lot of pots, pans and herbs and spices.
There is a laundry room with washer and dryer and a 'sheila maid' suspended drying rack.
A separate downstairs 'loo' is equipped with a shower cubical, sink and W/C.
Leading off the long downstairs passageway is a snug which has an Xbox and tv with small sofa and beanbag. The snug leads on to the third double bedroom with windows onto the pretty back garden.
It's a complicated layout with lots of glazed doors either painted in Farrow & Ball heritage colours or the original Edwardian doors glazed stained glass but a very warm and inviting house.

Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

Dowanhill - our neighbourhood is one of Glasgow's lovliest. 2 blocks from Byres Road, with great transportation links into the city (subway and buses) there is also street parking and we can arrange for you to use parking permits if necessary.
There's a small park almost across the street, a farmers' market twice monthly and lots and lots of shops, cafes, restaurants.
Our neighbourhood is quiet and leafy but very close to the bustle if desired.
There is much to do and Edinburgh is just one hour away by train with Loch Lomond and some beautiful walks is easy to reach.

Our Preferences

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules

We like to keep a tidy house and can arrange for our cleaner to come in while you are there or to help you tidy up upon leaving.
We'd love you to look after our cats but if that's not possible can arrange for them to be in a kennel for your stay.

You won't need a car while you're staying at the house but if you want one for day trips there are plenty of rental places around.
