Hello! We are a family of four living in the West of Edinburgh. Clare is a designer, Alistair is a lawyer, Harley is 12 (13 in June) and is in his first year at high school and Ella is 8 (9 in May) and attends the primary school next to our house. Our profile photo was taken last year in Marrakech.
We have lived here for 9 years and love Edinburgh. It can be chilly sometimes but it's beautiful, vibrant and small enough to really get to know in a week or two. When it's warm we have the most wonderful beaches, walks and parks.
Prior to moving back to Edinburgh (we also lived here in the early 2000s before the children were born) we lived in Switzerland for a few years where Harley was born. When we first moved to this house it was a rental, however, after a year we realised it was such a great place to live that we bought it. Over the years we have renovated and made the house our home. We enjoy food, cooking, music, art/design and spending time with friends. The children are quite sporty playing basketball, rugby, tennis, golf. Alistair is a keen golfer and Clare enjoys tennis, ice skating (this is a new hobby for us!) and walking. We have a tennis court, ice rink and golf course very close to our house.
Being in Edinburgh, we also have a fabulous range of galleries and museums which we all enjoy. Thanks for reading and please get in touch if you would like more info.

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
We have a 4 bedroom detached house with enclosed garden and parking in Corstorphine, West Edinburgh. Our house is located though an archway and down a long driveway so is very quiet.
Downstairs we have a shower room (with electric shower) a playroom/Xbox room with piano, a large kitchen diner which leads on to a utility room and back door at one end and opens on to the garden through patio doors through the other end. The dining room also leads in to the living room though sliding doors.
Upstairs we have a large family bathroom with separate shower, my son's and daughter's room, both of which have a single bed with additional single mattress underneath (so each room can sleep 2), a double spare room and the master bedroom with ensuite shower room.
Most of the house has been recently upgraded to include wooden floors and new bathrooms and kitchen. The kitchen has a dishwasher, microwave and large range cooker and the utility room has a washing machine and dryer. The dining table can comfortably seat 8 people. We are 'foodies' so the kitchen is well equipped.
Outside we have an enclosed garden with a trampoline. Sometimes it is warm and sunny in Edinburgh! Honestly, it does sometimes happen! If this is the case, we have a barbecue and paddling pool. I try to keep the garden looking nice and sometimes have fruit and vegetables growing. In the autumn we have lots of plums and in the summer there are sometimes beans and courgettes. There are always fresh herbs growing. Whatever we have growing, please help yourself.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Corstorphine is a quiet, family friendly area in the west of Edinburgh, very close to the airport. We have shops, banks, pharmacies, restaurants, bars, cafes and bus stops all within minutes' walk of our house. We are also minutes away from a park with tennis courts, and lovely walks. If you want to venture further afield, we are only a short drive from the motorway which will take you Glasgow and the Highlands. Everything you need here is on your doorstep and the centre of town is only 20 mins by bus. Edinburgh is a vibrant and beautiful city which is full of interesting galleries, museums, sightseeing, shops (the individual and kooky ones as well as the high end designers), restaurants, bars, cafes, music, theatre. It has something for everyone and I'm happy to help with more specific information if you want recommendations or advice.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
Our house is set back from the road down a driveway which we share with one other house. It is very quiet! Within minutes' walking distance you will find a park with tennis courts, bowling green and playground. In the other direction, you will find shops, bars, cafes, take aways, pharmacies, banks, small supermarkets and bus stops going in to the centre of Edinburgh. Also, within very close proximity to our house is Edinburgh Zoo, Corstorphine Hill (for lovely walks), a large supermarket, a cinema, retail parks and very easy access to the motorway if you want to explore the Highlands. The buses in to central Edinburgh are frequent and take about 20 mins. The links shown here are either 'on the doorstep' places, or a short drive/bus ride, with the exception of the climbing arena and ski centre; these are still close, maybe 20 mins drive/taxi. If you're interested in recommendations for places in central Edinburgh or other areas of Edinburgh, I'd be happy to help. There are many!
