Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

School End was converted in 2001 from a former Victorian school and faces onto the (small) River Brit, where kingfishers and occasional otters can be spotted. Pymore is a small, former rope-making, village development with its own pub/restaurant, one mile north of the market town of Bridport in Dorset, with its good local shopping facilities, a number of restaurants and local evening entertainment venues. The World Heritage Site - Juarssic Coast - of Dorset is about 2 miles away. The area is particularly well-suited for walking and is a good base for sight-seeing in the south-west generally. For example, Lyme Regis (think fossils, or French Lieutentants' Woman) is 10 miles; Portland Bill, 25m; Dartmoor (Hound Tor) 62m; and, Stonehenge 65 miles. There are hill forts and castles aplenty in the area, in various states of delapidation, and lots of stately homes, gardens, National Trust properites, etc. Public transport is reasonable. Cycling is possible but the lanes are narrow.

Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

Pymore is a quiet former rope making village. There is no through traffic and the River Brit runs nearby, just opposite the house. There is a cycle path into town. Bridport has a market on Wednesday and Saturdays and is very popular with tourists who like to visit the Dorset coastline. Bridport also has a whole quarter of antique/secondhand shops and artists' studios at St. Michaels (behind the bus station). Well worth a visit.
