We are situated in Bovey Tracey, a small town of about 6000 people, which is called the The Gateway to the the Moors(Dartmoor national park). The town has everything you would need for your holiday. Cafes, Pubs, shops, cashpoints, Parks, bakeries, butchers, Chemist. It is a quiet and very safe family friendly area, 5 minute walk to shops and public swimming pool, and parks.

Bovey Tracey has a lovely gallery called The Devon Guild of Craftsmen which showcases some of the best from makers of the area.

There is a beautiful park, Mill marsh park with long walks along the river bovey, into bovey woods. There is various beautiful National trust properties around.

Castle Drogo is great for a day trip. The last Castle to be built in England.
Widecombe in the moor is also great far a day trip and only 15 minutes drive across the moors. They have the most gorgeous little pub called The rugglestone inn-This is great for children as there is a little stream and chickens running around. Brilliant food.
The historic market towns of Chagford, Ashburton and Totnes are close by and worth a visit. Ashburton is well renowned for Antiques and crafts.
Totnes is a very interesting mix of shops and Cafes.

The beaches at Sheldon and Teignmouth are 25 minutes drive. The Ness beach at Shaldon is great. There is a fiction tunnel to the beach- a unique sight.
If you like wild swimming there are lots of beautiful spots to swim in the river dart and the river Teign.
The south Hams beaches of South Milton sands, Bigbury and bantham are the best beaches around- about a 45 minute drive.

Our house is a minutes walk from the house of marbles, a great place for children, with a funny shop cafe and museum and a wonderful outside play area for children or adults.
