Read More...Thanks for this nice opportunity to get acquainted with Oregon. We enjoyed every bit of your home, from the swimming pool (only Alain!) to the nice musical decoration. It was so nice to be able to meet you at the beginning and the end of the exchange, this is always a plus in such home swaps. Thank you for the nice welcome meal and the local wine. Your recommendations for restaurants or hikes were perfect and they helped us in enjoying even more our stay. We wish you exciting exchanges! Catherine and Nicolas

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
HomeLinker since 2001
First, I am allergic to cats. It’s not horrible, if your cat can be boarded and the house is vacuumed very well before we arrive, it should be fine. Now on to the fun stuff…
We live in Stevenson, Washington, which is less than an hour east of Portland, Oregon. Our house has a view of the Columbia River and surrounding mountains. The Columbia River Gorge is very popular with windsurfers & kiteboarders. We have lots of beautiful hiking opportunities. Summer skiing is available at Mt. Hood, and Mt. St. Helens is close by as well. Portland is a beautiful city with a lively downtown and many nice neighborhoods to explore. The Oregon coast, which is incredibly beautiful, is a two to three hour drive. We also have very nice wine-tasting regions & brewpubs, many here in the Gorge. In fact, we have a world-class brewpub right in Stevenson.
Our mid century modern house has an interesting bathroom situation. We have one full bath and two half baths. Not sure why they designed it that way. We have three bedrooms with queen size beds. We also have a swimming pool, which is a hit with the kids and adults for that matter. If outside watering is needed we can have neighbors do it, unless you actually enjoy it, which I do!

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Our home is at the end of a dead end street, so it is very quiet, but we have very helpful neighbors. We are less than a mile from downtown Stevenson, which is small but has lovely shops, several good restaurants and an award winning brewpub, Walking Man. Cultural events can be found sometimes in town, and often in Hood River (30 minutes east) and Portland (less than an hour west.)

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
The Columbia River Gorge is a National Scenic Area, with beautiful hikes, waterfalls, and water activities. Portland, Oregon is less than an hour away. Mt. Hood and Mt. St. Helens are easy day trips. The Gorge is also known for great wineries, and Hood River has six tasting rooms right downtown.
