Profile in progress! I'm a 32 year old occupational therapist living and working in San Francisco, CA, USA. I'm an experienced exchanger having participated in many exchanges with my parents and I'll now be exchanging on my own. I'll usually be joined by a couple of friends on my travels. Currently, I'm interested in exchanging for short term periods domestically until COVID is more under control at which point I hope to do more international travel. I do have an old cat and he has access to every part of my home so my place is probably not best for those with a severe allergy to cats. (As he has medical needs, he'll be cared for somewhere else while I'm traveling).

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
My home is a small two bedroom carriage house tucked away on a quiet street in the Marina district of San Francisco. Like many homes in the city, it's small and it's construction dates back to the 1880's. Despite the size, it's got everything a person could need and comes with a dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, instant boiling water, and a little temperature controlled fire place.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
My home is tucked away in a quiet corner of San Francisco in a very safe neighborhood and offers a bit of a refuge from the rest of the city. We're a 5 minute walk from Fort Mason which has a farmer's market on Sunday and during the summer we have Off the Grid on Friday nights which is a gathering of food trucks offering food and drinks around fire pits and live music. There's a great view of Golden Gate bridge as well as Alcatraz. Two blocks up is Union street which has shopping, bars, and restaurants and 2 blocks down there's Chestnut street with more shopping, bars and restaurants. About a 15 minute walk up Lombard Street will take you to the famous curvy part of the street that also has great views of Alcatraz and Coit Tower.
Like many places in SF, the parking can be a challenge but the Marina is better than many neighborhoods and if you're patient you'll find what you need. That said, most people get around in the city using the bus system (there's a stop 2 blocks away and another stop 2 blocks away), BART (it doesn't come to the Marina but will connect you to locations throughout the city and across the Bay), and lyft/uber (found all over the city and beyond).

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
The main benefit of living in a city is that you've got everything at your finger tips- We've got museums, concert venues, restaurants, bars, comedy clubs, shopping, art galleries, theaters, and more. And in terms of outdoor activities, we've got sailing, golfing, hiking, surfing, windsurfing, etc. Several of these attractions are within walking distance- the Palace of Fine Arts is a beautiful place to walk around even if you don't go inside and we've also got The Walt Disney Family Museum and Lucasfilms about a 20 minute walk away in the Presidio. Because we're located in the Marina district, we're also a 15 minute walk from Aquatic Park where you can swim in the frigid SF Bay (stay away from the seals though), and try things like kayaking and sailing.

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
Please treat my home like your own. It's non-smoking and because we are in close quarters with several other households, I would ask that you not throw any loud parties.
