Read More...Our exchange with Allen and Sande was one of our better exchange experiences. The reason is that their, luxurious, spacious home accommodated Madeleine and me, as well as her two sisters and a spouse, in what turned out to be the second wettest October in Roseburg on record. So having a very nice home in which to play games, drink wine, and read (they have a very extensive library offering a wide selection of books), made the rain much less of a problem. Since Madeleine and her two sisters live thousands of miles apart, this wet exchange offered us a unique bonding opportunity. Their home is located on a large plot of land in a rolling hills setting, giving us nice views from many rooms. The fawn and doe that grazed outside the kitchen window, and the 20 or 30 wild turkeys that crossed the front yard every day, was a special treat for us city dwellers. Another way that we dealt with the rain was to go wine tasting. There are many nice wineries nearby the Huffstutter's home. On our sunny days we visited Crater Lake National Park and the Oregon coast, both less than a two hour drive away. All and all, this exchange offered us a relaxing stay in a beautiful rural environment. Communication was excellent, both before and during the exchange. The house was spotless, the kitchen was well equipped, and the large garden was still providing us with some nice, fresh, produce.

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Our home is situated on five quiet acres in a gated community. The 4,000 sq. ft. interior of our home features an open design and expansive windows so you feel like you are living in the middle of a park.
There are three patios plus a deck off of the master bedroom, so there is alway a sunny place to relax with a glass of wine or a local micro-brewed beer. There is a wood burning fireplace in the living room, a gas fireplace in the family room, and a gas barbecue off the kitchen. There is a 65" TV with streaming Netflix and BlueRay player in the family room. The gourmet kitchen is fully equipped.
A seasonal creak runs the length of our property where you can enjoy a good book from our library while relaxing in our hammock. We have a very large garden and numerous fruit trees so there are fresh fruits and vegetables ready to pick all summer.
We have two adult bikes and two youth (girls) bikes and helmets available. We also have lots of adult and kids games for quiet times indoors.
