We are a retired couple. I am a music teacher, musician and watercolor artist. My wife is a retired Operating Room nurse. We have two adult children and 5 grandchildren ages 4-17. We may, at some time, bring the older kids along but we would certainly announce that in our plans.

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
We have a large, rustic 3000 sq/ft, home in the woods on 4 acres. The home has a unique style having been built by a German Carpenter in 1959. The living room has a wood stove. There are two bedrooms on the top floor, each with double size beds and a 'Jack-n-Jill' bathroom. A nice landing allows for card games or reading over-looking the living area. The first floor bedroom is a large master with a queen bed and lots of windows to watch the deer. The deck is off the living room with a view of the front two acres thru the trees. The kitchen has a lovely view of the back acres. There is a washer and dryer off the kitchen area. Our kitchen was remodeled recently. The dining table seats 10 and there are 4 stools at the counter/bar area. We have a large finished basement which we are making into a small apartment soon. It is warm in the winter and cool in the summer. We also have a large swimming pool, however, it is not heated and the best time of year to use it is July through September.
We have three cats to feed. They are indoor outdoor cats and we feed them in the kitchen area. They are not lap cats but they are very sweet and all three about 15 years old. We have a few indoor plants to water and a few outdoor plants to water for long term exchanges.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
We are 10 miles from the town of Placerville and 6 miles from Lake Jenkinson also known as Sly Park. We live on a lane of 5 homes but can only see one of those homes. We are located just off a main country road and around the corner from a large grocery store and small shopping center with both a Pizza and a Chinese Restaurant. We are surrounded by wineries.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
We are 6 miles from a large lake, Lake Jenkinson, where you can kayak, fish and standup paddle board and 70 miles from South Lake Tahoe. We get about one to three days of snow each year (altitude 2500 feet), however, just up the road a few miles there is snow that hangs around all winter. We are 10 miles from Apple Hill which is a very popular spot to go in the fall for all things apple, and you can get there from here without going on the highway. We are 45 minutes from the capital city Sacramento, California. Interesting for many is our short distance to Coloma, the site of the 1849 Gold Rush and River Rafting galore. We have nice weather most of the year with February being our rainy month. Our County of El Dorado has miles and miles of walking and bicycle paths that can be located on the "All Trails" phone app. There is a particularly beautiful one encircling Lake Jenkinson. A stroll down main street Placerville will delight you with several art galleries, antique shops and many coffee shops and restaurants. There are local celebrations in Placerville https://visit-eldorado.com/hometown-holiday-historic-main-street/
Our home sits amongst 14 wineries including the Fairplay/Somerset wineries and those in El Dorado Hills and Camino. They are as close as 1/2 mile to the left and the right of our intersection. The terroir of red dirt and the extreme variations of temperature day and night create excellent varietals of wine. In the fall the wineries host tastings, dinners, parties and drop-in and they are open year round.
