Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Our 5 bed 3 bath home is located in midtown Palo Alto, arguably the heart of Silicon Valley, CA on a quiet cul-de-sac where the children of the neighborhood play together. Surrounded by lots of trees, our yard is a lovely place to relax or enjoy a glass of wine on the patio. The great room has a 12' wide door that seamlessly connects the inside dining area with the outside patio.
Remodeled in 2006, the home offers standard amenities. Wifi provided via several routers configured for teen inaccessibility. Built in surround sound speakers provide movie theatre sound in the great room. 3 washers & dryers; 2 dishwashers let the house do life work for you. The kitchen, equipped with microwave & 6 burner gas range, and oven. Many versions of pots/pans available for your cook-in needs. Seasonings collected from around the world are available for discretionary use. Summer BBQ grills are available at our swim & tennis club. Also available upon request are ceramic pizza stones, slow cooker, rice cooker, Vitamix, ice cream maker, waffle maker, popcorn popper. Grocery delivery available.
Palo Alto receives water from the Hetch Hetchy reservoir sourced from snow in the Sierra mountains so it is purely delicious. Even so, fridge filter gets it even cleaner. Hot water provided via natural gas fired Instahot water heater so regardless of the number of dirty bodies you need to wash, you never run out.
1 bedroom, currently used as an office so might not be accessible to guests, is on 1st floor with full bath nearby. 3 bedrooms & 2 full baths on 2nd floor (2 sets of twin bunk beds, one cal king), a double topped mattress on the floor in the kid's library can be used in a pinch as a sleeping space. 3rd floor loft has two single beds, a sleeping couch, and two toddler mattresses. All beds furnished with cotton linens and down comforters.
By special advance arrangement, guests may be able to be provided membership access to our pool and tennis club facility a half mile away. See eichlerclub.com.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Please ask whatever is on your mind -- we'd love to help you figure out if our neighborhood will meet your needs. Close to all the digital greats [Google, Facebook, Yahoo, Linked In, and up-and-comings [Survey Monkey, Houzz, etc.], you're pretty much at the epicenter of tech goings on. Stanford University with it's rich offerings is just across town. San Francisco -- with it's festivals of all kinds along with delightfully high quality symphonic, dance, and operatic offerings is a 40 min. bullet train ride away. Down the street and across the highway is a small airport if you're flying in, the municipal golf course, trails through wet land habitats of migrating bird species, and boat launch for wind surfers, kayaks to explore the famous bay of San Francisco,. Down the street is a private swim and tennis club [see: eichlerclub.com]; upon request, we can arrange for our membership priveledges to extend to you during your stay here. Great America amusement park makes kid fun easy.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
For the little people, there is a school playground and two city parks with play structures available within walking distance. One of those parks is home to a modest skate bowl. Down the street is a heated pool, tennis courts, and a toddler friendly zero entry pool with access made available by prior arrangement. Two coffee shops, two pharmacies, modest eateries, a grocery store, two banks, multiple nail/hair salons are all within walking distance so once you arrive, there is need for a vehicle only if you want to explore the peninsula. Of note => we are now landlocked during commute hours between the tech companies of Facebook to the north and Google to the south so be aware of the directions of commute as you make your exploration plans. In the summer, the nearest amusement park is Great America, 20 min. south. Summer concert venue, Shoreline Ampitheatre, is 15 min. south and accessible via bike paths adjacent to a water sanctuary. Door to sand is 50 min. if you head directly west to Half Moon Bay beaches, best visited together with a stop @ hole-in-the-wall breakfast joint, 3-Zero Cafe. Door to sand is 60 min. if you go to Santa Cruz boardwalk and Twin Lakes beaches. San Francisco is ~ 50 min. driving, 30 min. on the bullet train from Palo Alto's University station. Further afield, we are 4 hours to Yosemite, 2 hours from Napa Wine country, 2 hours from Carmel, 3 hours to the wild, iconic beauties of the Pacific coastline at Big Sur.
