Larry recently retired after many years of working in the juvenile court system and now is volunteering in the community with youth. He hopes to get back to playing his trombone once the pandemic is over. Sarah is still working as a professor, teaching courses at a small, private university. Both enjoy music, good food and good theatre. We have two grown children.

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Our cottage is close to the center of Lakeside, within walking or biking distance to the lakefront and Central Park, Hoover Auditorium, Rhein Arts Center, tennis courts, shops and dining. Nearby places to visit include Cedar Point, Marblehead Lighthouse, Edison's Birthplace, and Lake Erie Islands. You’ll love our place because of the coziness of the inside and the beauty of the outside. This historic cottage is great for couples and families (with kids).

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Lakeside is on a peninsula on Lake Erie in Ohio, between Port Clinton and Marblehead. From the dock you can see the Erie Islands and Put In Bay. Around the bend is Cedar Point. Rich in history and tradition, Lakeside has been a retreat for families since the 1800s. During the summer season, Lakeside functions as a Chautauqua offering programs for "mind, body and spirit" for all ages from dawn to dusk.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
Lakeside is on what is called the North Shore, right on Lake Erie. While there is lots to do just in Lakeside, lots of other opportunities outside the gates. From the lakeshore you can see the Lake Erie Islands which you can get to from local ferries. Great area for birding. About 30 minutes (closer by water) is Cedar Point amusement park. If you want to explore a little further away, Toledo is an hour east and Cleveland is an hour west.

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
The cottage is used as a rental so it's important that it be left in good shape for new guests when you leave. If you'd like for us to hire a cleaning service for you, we're happy to do that. Exchange does not include Lakeside Chautauqua gate and parking fees. Please see https://www.lakesideohio.com/passes for further details.
