Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Our house is an historic property (yes, even in Florida!) in the university town of Gainesville. Renovated and expanded over its life of 130+ years, it's a comfortable, large modern home with an open living/kitchen area as its primary space. The house has 3 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms, easily sleeping 6. The 2nd floor consists of only the master suite--bedroom, bath with separate shower and tub. The 1st floor has one en suite guest room with twin beds and full bathroom. The 2nd guest bedroom has a double bed and separate bath with twin sinks just adjacent in the hallway. In addition to living room, formal dining room, library, and office, there is a fully screened porch at the front of the house.
The gardens are lovely with brick patios, fruit trees, raised vegetable garden, and a detached screened room overlooking the back gardens. There's also a gas barbecue grill for outdoor cooking with tables for dining.
The house has free broadband wireless internet access. Pet-free home.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Gainesville is the home of the University of Florida, one of the largest in the US. The house is set in the old residential neighborhood established in the late 19th century. With nearby parks, it is also within walking distance of the public library, restaurants, and shops in the lively downtown district. Four bicycles can be made available as well. Our car, a Mercedes sedan, may be offered for exchange. A car will be necessary for longer expeditions. Gainesville is only two hours north of Mickey Mouse (aka Disney World), an hour and a half from Atlantic beaches, including St. Augustine, the oldest city in the US.

Other attractions: within close proximity to the house are swimming pools, golf courses, tennis courts, movie theaters, and live theater and music. Canoeing and kayaking on the Santa Fe and Suwanee Rivers are popular excursions; Fishing and sunsets at Cedar Key on the Gulf Coast (about an hour away); Clear, natural springs offer offer an unusual experience for those more used to Florida's beaches and other tourist attractions.
For nature lovers, Gainesville is in the middle of a number of preserves, easily reached by bicycle or car from the house. Most intriguing may be Payne's Prairie, home to numberless bird species and hundreds of alligators. Spectacular Sandhill Cranes winter there as well.
While Gainesville has its own airport, the three closest international airports are Jacksonville, Orlando, and Tampa.
