We are a family of five living in Berkeley, California. We've traveled around the U.S. and a bit in Mexico, Asia, and Europe, but now that our kids are older, we're ready to explore more, more often.
We recently renovated our modern and sunny house and so enjoy spending time at home, too. Our last house was a restored 19th Century Victorian. We're fans of both modern and older homes and also love when old and new are mixed.
We like spending time together as a family and with friends, going to the movies and museums, eating out and cooking at home, seeing and doing new things, and visiting favorite familiar places.
We have a dog and a cat and keep a beehive in our backyard. We'll board our pets while we're away.

Our Home For Exchange
Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Modern Berkeley Hills home on a quiet residential street with easy access to UC-Berkeley and San Francisco and serene views of the Golden Gate Bridge from the kitchen, living room, and landscaped yard.
We have a tiered, private, landscaped yard off the kitchen with comfortable seating, two dining tables, a gas grill, propane heaters, lounge chairs, a swing, a trampoline, a ping pong table, and a grassy area—all with views of the SF Bay, San Francisco, Mount Tamalpais, and the Golden Gate Bridge, which you can also see from our living room and kitchen.
Three twin beds-- located in two bedrooms-- are loft beds and so most ideal for children > 3 years old, teens, and mobile adults. The fourth bed is a queen located in the third bedroom, which has an en suite bathroom with a rain shower. There is also a private deck off the master suite with a table and more comfortable seating.
We have a smart tv with access to local tv channels (no cable) as well as Hulu and Netflix. We also have a dvd player with a large selection of Pixar, Star Wars, and other children's movies. The master bedroom also has a smart tv with local channels (no cable) and access to Hulu and Netflix.
We have a dog (Tulip) and a cat (Bruno).

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
We're about 2 miles from the UC-Berkeley campus and downtown Berkeley, both of which you can reach by public bus (AC 65) that stops 2 blocks from our house. It’s also just a 35-minute pleasant walk down to the “flats,” where you’ll find, in addition to the campus, wonderful restaurants, several grocery stores, a choice of movie theaters, and an array of boutique clothing, book, and gift shops. We’re also just a 25-minute subway (BART) ride to San Francisco.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
Our house is within 2 miles of the UC-Berkeley campus. You can reach it by public bus (AC 65) two short blocks from our house or by a pleasant walk (35 minutes). We're also just a short subway (BART) ride to San Francisco (25 minutes) and Oakland (10 minutes). We're within a half hour drive of the Golden Gate Bridge and Marin Headlands, a 45-minute drive to Muir Woods and Stinson Beach, an hour drive to Napa, and an hour and half drive to Sonoma and Calistoga.
