Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home

Neuchâtel and its region are located in a lake environment. You will find several pebble beaches, the closest of which is located 10 minutes by car from the house (20-25 minutes on foot). You can swim there, eat grilled meats (we have a small portable BBQ). Neuchâtel is also at the foot of the Jura and several beautiful walks are quickly accessible in impressive places (such as the Creux-du-Van). There is also easy access to the Val-de-Travers via ferrata. A 5-minute walk away, you can stroll through the Neuchâtel vineyards with the possibility of visiting a wine-producing cellar and buying wine directly from the producer. If history attracts you more, Neuchâtel is a thousand-year-old city with its picturesque old town. There is also the Roman museum in Neuchâtel and the watchmaking museum in Le Locle. La Chaux-de-Fonds, a watchmaking town located in the Neuchâtel mountains, has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the area there is tree snag, summer tobogganing, all-terrain scootering, go-karting, bowling and the possibility of horse riding. You can easily get to Neuchâtel by public transport.

Lausanne and Geneva are quickly accessible by motorway. We are 45 minutes from Lausanne and 90 minutes from Geneva. These towns are located on the shores of Lake Geneva. Geneva will let you discover with its old town, its harbour, its parks, its international organizations and the visit of the UN center. Lausanne offers its quays of Ouchy, the museum of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), its old town. At 1h30 you will find the Valais Alps with the thermal baths, mountain resorts like Zermatt and Verbier and the city of Sion with its old castle located opposite the old residence of the bishop. Perhaps you would be interested in visiting the Cailler chocolate factory located in Broc, near Bern? There is also the whole region of German-speaking Switzerland (German-speaking) which can be interesting to visit, with Zurich, the metropolis of Switzerland, Bern, the Swiss capital and Basel at the crossroads of 3 countries (Switzerland, France and Germany). You can also get easily and in less than 5 hours to Milan, a historic, cultural city and European center of fashion. In France, the Doubs region with its beautiful nature and Burgundy with its history, cuisine and wines are accessible within a few hours by car. The region of Haute-Savoie and the French Jura are more than 2 hours from Neuchâtel.

We find at 2h30 from our house, Europa Park, located in Rust in Germany. It is the largest amusement park in Europe. There is something for all tastes and all ages.

Obviously, this list of activities is not exhaustive and you will find other ideas on the following sites: neuchateltourisme.ch and myswitzerland.com.
