Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

Our renovated, detached 1950's bungalow is light and airy and situated down a short lane, in a lovely , relaxed village, on the edge of the North York Moors national park (4miles). We look out onto fields on one side of the garden and you can just see the hills from here. Inside we have a separate lounge and a dining area. The kitchen is newly installed (December 2023 ) and also has a dining area which leads onto the patio. We have no bath but instead have a modern wet room with underfloor heating. In the converted loft space there is an office. There is one bedroom as we use other rooms for other purposes. please note this makes the house only suitable for a couple.

Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

A “beck” (stream) runs through the village and all the basics are 2 miles N in Stokesley, a small attractive market town. It is semi rural with associated activities eg agricultural shows over summer. Walking and cycling can be done from the house or drive onto the moor and start there. Lots of places to eat, (3 pubs in the village serve food), leisure centre with public swimming, gym, golf range, library etc, with organised walks, workshops, events over the summer and there is plenty to see and do.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home

Further afield there is horse racing, golf and County cricket at Durham. The coast is 15 miles for quaint fishing villages or Whitby harbour (23 miles). The Yorkshire Dales, Harrogate- a smart spa town with good shopping, York for York Minster, shopping, the city walls etc and Durham (castle and cathedral) are all within an hours drive. It is only 39 miles to Newcastle/Gateshead with a thriving cultural centre and serious shopping, 65miles (2 hrs) to the Lake district, 49 miles to Hadrian’s Wall (roman history), 70 miles into Northumberland
(castles, beautiful coastline).
Other references include "the Captain Cook trail" , James Herriot, Heartbeat country, the Brontes. Hikers on the coast to coast walk often stay in the village on their route.
However you don't have to go far and we have, and can send lots of information to help you. This is serious and leisurely hiking and biking country for young and old and the Cleveland Way passes the road exiting the village.
