Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

Recently semi retired and more time available for holidays! I have done exchanges when children now 39 and 41were younger and more recently to Copenhagen, New Zealand, Florida and Canada and South Africa. It may be that friends or family (children youngest 2, oldest almost 12) choose to join me so bear that in mind when you make an offer or specify if you are only prepared for myself and maybe partner.

Stoke Abbott where I live is a rural location, a very pretty village with an excellent pub within walking distance. There are walks all around. Dorset has lots of pretty and interesting places, coastal walks, country houses, gardens, and beaches.I am a 2hr 30 min train trip from London. The nearest larger town is Bridport which has a range of shops and activities and a street market twice a week. There is a station about 15 minutes drive away where you can park the car, with regular trains into London in one direction and Exeter in the other..

My house is a very pretty thatched cottage. There are 3 bedrooms. a master with a king-sized bed, a family room with a double and a single with trundle bed and a third with a small single with trundle bed under.

There is a pretty back garden with countryside views.

Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

The neighbourhood of Stoke Abbott is quiet and peaceful, surrounded by farmland and lovely old houses. There is a very good pub in the village, serving reasonably priced food. The attractive town of Beaminster about 2 miles away is the nearest larger town, with local shops, coffee shops and pubs. The bigger town of Bridport has a lively Arts scene and larger supermarket. West bay close to Bridport was the setting for Broadchurch the David Tennant and Olivia Coleman crime drama. The area also has many National trust walks and houses, including several linked to Thomas Hardy the novelist. Lyme Regis with it's film links is a pretty town well worth a visit. Within 6-10 miles are some lovely beaches with pubs and cafes and National Trust walks.
There is a direct train service every hour from Crewkerne (about 6 miles away) to London Waterloo.

I am about 8 miles from the Jurassic coast with both pebble and sandy beaches and pubs and cafes including the famouse Hive beach cafe serving delicious seafood.
