Description of the home we are offering for exchange
*** Exchange arranged for Australia 2024****
Would consider summer in Scotland for one week 2023 or long weekend exchanges
Brand new house on a small estate in Waltham Chase. Only 3 miles from the picturesque market town of Bishops Waltham with Palace ruins and quaint centre, several good restaurants, wine bar and pubs. A number of traditional country pubs nearby.
We use one of the 4 bedrooms as a dressing room so there are 3 rooms we use as bedrooms. A large master suite, double guestroom, single room with additional fold out single bed.
We have just moved into our house - I am in the process of making all the curtains and buying lampshades - they will be finished soon!
The historic city of Winchester is 25 minutes away. The impressive cathedral is 1000 years old and the grounds make a popular picnic site. There is also a lovely old high street with butter cross in the centre. To the north are the old city Walls and the Great Hall with King Arthurs original round table on display. At the bottom of the high street is the statue of King Alfred, the Guildhall and old water mill.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Within 8 miles is Marwell Wildlife Park which is internationally renowned for its conservation work. Manor Farm is also very close, within a country park bordering the River Hamble. We live on the edge of the South Downs National Park and there is a very good network of footpaths and cycle routes (on and off road). There are some excellent traditional English and real ale pubs nearby.
My partner and I are very keen open water swimmers and there are lots of local opportunities - and the sea is less that half an hours drive away.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
London is easily accessible. The historic dockyard in Portsmouth is half an hour away and has Nelsons HMS Victory and King Henry VIII Mary Rose.
Also within half an hours drive are Southampton, the ferries to France and the Isle of Wight which make good day trips. Both Southampton and Portsmouth offer excellent shopping/leisure opportunities including the outlet centre of Gunwharf Quays.
There are several beaches nearby including Southsea and Stokes Bay and a little further away is Bournemouth and Studland. There are great walks nearby including South Downs Way, New Forest National Parks (where ponies and cattle roam freely), coastal and country walks. There are excellent off road cycling tracks in the national parks (bike hire available) as well as on country lanes directly from my house. Fishbourne Roman Palace is less than an hour away and a great place to visit for any school children studying the Romans. Also, Intech - a 'hands on' interactive science and technology centre.

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
I am attempting to swim the Catalina Channel - over 20 miles between Catalina Island and LA. We are looking for a house exchange in LA for this purpose. My swim is 30 July-1 August so very little flexibility in dates.
Also looking for an exchange near open water - lakes or sea- over the long Jubilee BH weekend
We have experience of doing house exchanges.
No small children please.
