Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

A spacious 3/4 bedroom house with outstanding views overlooking Painswick - 'Queen the Cotswolds'. We have a large open plan kitchen/ dining room at the heart of the house leading onto a raised deck , perfect for dining or watching the buzzards soar across the valley. Our garden is large with a hidden vegetable patch for you to use. The house backs onto woodland with numerous footpaths, ideal for a short stroll or longer walks. We are near the village of Slad, made famous by 'Cider With Rosie' Laurie Lee. Our children are teenagers but we still have lots of toys and games that would suit younger children and keep them occupied on a rainy day.

Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

We live in a rural location surrounded by woodland and open fields with a few friendly neighbours nearby. We are within 20 minutes walk of both Sheepscombe and Painswick villages. Sheepscombe has one pub and Painswick has two pubs, a few restaurants and hotels. Countryside walking is easy directly from the house but you will need a car to travel further afield as there is no local transport. The town of Stroud is 12 minutes away by car with many local shops, cafes, supermarkets and a brilliant Saturday farmers market.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home

We are 12 minutes drive to Stroud, a small 'arty' town with lots of individual shops. 25 minutes away is the regency town of Cheltenham, home to horse racing and jazz festivals and a heated outdoor Lido. Cirencester is a larger market town 20 minutes away. Further afield, Oxford, Bath Spa with it's Roman baths and Bristol are about 45 minutes drive. The Wysis Way passes our door and the Cotswold Way passes through Painswick, a twenty minute walk for the house. Several National Trust properties are within easy reach including Hidcote garden, Chedworth Roman Villa and stunning Tyntesfield near Bristol.
