Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

We are looking for an exchange in Sydney (eastern suburbs/beaches where my son lives) at the beginning of September 2023, close to the city. We are also looking for NZ exchange at the beginning of October 2023.

Our home is a charming, Grade II listed, sixteenth century thatched cottage with many original features including an inglenook open fireplace, exposed oak beams and walled cottage garden to rear.

The hidden priest's hole was allegedly used by King Charles fleeing from Oliver Cromwell.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

Frisby is a friendly, picturesque village (www.frisbyonthewreake.org.uk) surrounded by beautiful countryside. The local pub serves food as do other pubs in adjacent villages within walking distance. There is a village shop/post office.
Frisby is 5 miles SW of the market town of Melton Mowbray, home of the famous Melton pork pies and Stilton cheese. A lively cattle and street market has been held on
Tuesdays for the past six hundred years. It has a cinema, museum, restaurants, tourist information office, train and bus connections.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home

Excellent shopping, restaurants and entertainment is available in Nottingham 17 miles from Frisby.

London is 1.5 hours away by high-speed train convenient for day excursions and evening theatre trips. Twenty minutes West is the M1 motorway link providing rapid access north and south around Britain.

Stratford upon Avon is William Shakespeare's birthplace and has a wonderful theatre. Warwick and Kenilworth castles, the Cotswolds, Sherwood Forest and the Robin Hood Museum, the Derbyshire Peak District for hiking, National Trust properties and gardens, Alton Towers and Rutland Water all provide excellent day trips. Roman remains, the newly discovered remains and reburial of King Richard III make Leicester an interesting day out.

Our Preferences

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules

I am always looking for exchanges in Sydney. My son lives in the eastern suburbs so an exchange in that area would be great.

Otherwise we are open to short exchanges any time in the UK, Northern France, Belgium and Holland.
