Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

4 bed, 3 bathroom (2 ensuite) house in Enniskillen, Ireland, walking distance from town centre and from lakeshore at the well-known 'Round O' park. Sleeps 8.

We are a family of 2 adults and 2 children (aged 5 years and 7 years) who would like to swap our holiday home for somewhere else in Europe.
Our house is ideal for those who would like to spend time exploring the great outdoors either for an activity/watersports holiday or for a cultural experience, with the comfort of being a 10-15 minute walk from Enniskillen town centre, with a range of restaurants and pubs. The nearest shop is about 4 minutes walk away.

Enniskillen is a picturesque island town in the centre of Ireland's lake district. The town has a traditional towncentre, and welcomes visitors to its many pubs and restaurants. You may find traditional music on a Friday night in some pubs. Local crafts and artwork are sold in the "Buttermarket" in the town centre.

From our house you can walk to the shores of Lough Erne (5 mins walk), there to "hear lake water lapping", or feed the ducks, or take a boat trip on Lough Erne and explore Devenish Island, or just watch the cruisers go by. Lough Erne is renowned for fishing and visitors can purchase a licence and fishing supplies within walking distance in the town centre. Also within a short walk are Enniskillen castle, lakeshore walks around scenic Enniskillen island or a woodland and lakeshore walk to the ruins of Portora Castle. Those preferring a longer stretch can walk to Castle Coole National Trust 18th century mansion and park at the far end of the town.

Watersports can be organised nearby including canoeing, waterski-ing and boat hire www.fermanaghlakelands.com

Hillwalkers and those who love the great outdoors flock to Fermanagh and the area around Enniskillen to enjoy the miles of walking and cycling trails in the Marble Arch Caves UNESCO Global Geopark www.marblearchcavesgeopark.com, especially the Cuilcagh Mountain walk, which has increased dramatically in popularity.

For those who don't want to walk too much a visit to the The Marble Arch Caves and visitor centre is highly recommended. www.marblearchcavesgeopark.com

Florencecourt House National Trust 18th century home and gardens is a short drive away, approximately 8 miles www.nationaltrust.org.uk

Our house is 2 hours from Belfast and 2 hours from Dublin. Visitors may also like to drive 1 hour west of Enniskillen to explore the western Atlantic coast from south Donegal to Sligo, an area renowned for surfing. Sligo is known as "Yeats country" as the poet was inspired by the Sligo landsape and is buried there.

Those who are happy to drive a little further to explore more of Ireland may be interested in seeing the Sliabh Liag sea cliffs in Donegal, which are the highest accessible sea cliffs in Europe www.sliabhliag.com, (2 hours approximately) or to visit the Boyne Valley passage tombs at Newgrange, Co Meath (2 hours in the direction of Dublin) www.newgrange.com or visit the similar but less well known Passage tomb at Oldcastle, Co Meath (1 hour 20 minutes) www.loughcrewtombs.com .
