Nestled in the Fen countryside, right in the heart of England, this small city is ideally located for a proper exploration of the English lifestyle. Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Ely has the major tourist locations of Cambridge and Newmarket on its doorstep at the same time as being only an hour away from London by rail and only two hours away from the Norfolk Coast by car. Not forgetting of course the numerous small villages and towns in between that each have their own individual characteristics to offer.
Therefore, Ely makes for an ideal base for exploring the area.
If you are looking for a relaxing holiday surrounded by the magical English countryside, living in a typical cottage-feel home with the convenience of all the modern appliances at your fingertips, you are in the right place. A visit at the Cathedral is an absolute must, whilst a walk or having lunch around the Maltings Marina will ensure you a perfect day. Taking the bikes around the natural reserve would also guarantee a great time, not to mention a visit to Cambridge which is only 20minutes away (by train or by car).

Apart from the majestic Ely cathedral which is a true landmark standing out for miles, the ship of the Fens, you can always visit Oliver Cromwell’s home, the Ely museum as well as a great parade of boutique shops and a arts, crafts and farmers market every Thursday and Saturday.
