My husband, Charlie Munn, and I have are both retired and love to travel. I am American (half Scottish though) and have lived in Scotland for 10 years. Charlie is a native Scot. We both love to read, walk, bike and relax in a warm climate for at least a couple of weeks in the winter. Charlie is an avid golfer. I sing in a Rock and Roll Choir, take Yoga and sometimes threaten to learn to golf.

Made good use of the Ingliston ParknRide at the airport and the use of a 7 day pass that gave unlimited travel on all the Lothian buses and trams. Was a shame we didn’t get to meet our hosts but look forward to meeting up in Nelson next February. Thank you for entrusting us with your house ?

We visited many historic sites from Dunfermline Abbey and Palace, to Culross, Edinburgh and St Andrews - all of which are highly recommended. The park and ride bus to Edinburgh is a great link to the city and very easy to use. Scottish hospitality was great at every turn!

Access to Edinburgh on the Park and Ride was really easy, but we only went into the City once as there were numerous other places that we prefered to visit. Fran and Charlie's home is delightful, very modern and very clean (immaculate!). The hot tub was a real plus. After a long day out, a gin and tonic (plastic glass) had never tasted so good! Thank you Fran and Charlie, we really enjoyed our stay in your home.

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Our modern family home is located in Dunfermline, Fife, the ancient Scottish Capital. Just across the Firth of Forth from Edinburgh, Dunfermline offers easy access by rail, bus or car to the city centre (14 miles), St. Andrews, Stirling and Glasgow, and the Scottish Highlands.
The house is a detached modern villa situated on a quiet cul-de-sac. We are within walking distance of shops and a giant supermarket. There is regular bus service into the town of Dunfermline with stops close to the house.
The master bedroom is en-suite and the guest room is next to the family bathroom. The other two upstairs bedrooms serve as an office and a dressing room.
Downstairs, next to the loo, there is an overflow guest room with a pull out sofa. In addition to our living room and dining room area there is a fully equipped kitchen and utility room with a washer/dryer. Off the dining room is a very large south facing conservatory that extends into the back garden.
Our back garden has a deck with dining table/chairs and a chimnea. There is also a gas grill. Next to the deck area is a six seater hot tub sheltered in a summer house for all weather use.
We have all the modern amenities including wireless internet access, and Amazon and Netflix in addition to our regular channels.
Scotland, and our area in particular, has much to offer. In addition to the many historical and cultural opportunities, Scotland is an outdoors enthusiast’s dream with bike and walking trails, the many lochs and rivers in which to fish, the scenic mountains, seaside and islands to explore. And they are all within striking distance of our home.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Our neighbourhood is a quiet friendly one. Ours is one of the more established neighbourhoods in an area that used to be farmland but has become a bedroom community for Edinburgh where family homes have become unaffordable. We are within walking distance of a large supermarket and other shops, as well as a couple of pubs. There is also take away delivery fish & chips, pizza hut and chinese that serve our neighborhood. We have regular bus service into Dunfermline town where there are other shops, restaurants as well as a theatre and concert venue. The Fife Leisure Centre at Duloch is next to the supermarket and shops within walking distance. There is a multi screen movie theatre, crazy golf, bowling and several restaurants and pubs a short drive or long walk away.
Within a short drive or during the day a bus service you can access the Fife costal walking/biking trail that runs from South Queensferry to St. Andrews. There are several bike trails in Dunfermline and surrounding towns.
