Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

Sorry, we are fully booked up for Summer 2023.
Our home is a comfortable house with large gardens set in a rural setting amongst farmland, with beautiful views to front and rear. We have 4 bedrooms, the master having an en-suite bathroom and king-size bed. There are 2 sitting rooms, the upstairs one running the length of the house with views front and back, and a large balcony overlooking the garden. Also downstairs is a cosy study or 'snug' with a log burner. We enjoy gardening, and the garden is full of colour almost all year.

We are a 10 minute drive from Dunfermline, once the capital of Scotland, with its ancient Abbey, Palace, and beautiful Pittencrief Park. The centre of Edinburgh with its historical buildings, art galleries, theatres and castle is a 30 minute drive and also easily reached by bus or train. Also close by are the fishing villages of the East Neuk of Fife, St Andrews, famous for its golf course, and Stirling with its impressive castle.

Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

Our house is set in a rural area, amongst farm land, but is only a 10 minute drive from Dunfermline, the ancient capital of Scotland. It is a very peaceful setting: no-one passes us apart from the farmer going up the track in his tractor to feed the cows. There are many lovely walks from the house, and a lovely pub/restaurant about a mile and a half away.

Attractions

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home

Dunfermline is the ancient capital of Scotland, and also the birthplace of Andrew Carnegie, who gifted the town its swimming pool, library and beautiful Pittencrieff Park. The centre of Edinburgh with its historical buildings, art galleries, theatres and Castle is a 30 minute drive and also easily reached by bus or train. Within an hour you can reach Glasgow, Stirling, or
Loch Lomond, the gateway to the Highlands with its spectacular scenery. The Trossachs are another nearby area of outstanding beauty with many enjoyable walks at any level. The
Fife coast also has many pretty coastal fishing villages, such as Crail and Anstruther, leading up to St Andrews, famous for its historical golf course. Nearby Culross is a medieval village with cobbled streets and historical buildings.
