We are a family of five, two adults and three mainly really nicely behaved kids! We both work in the international development sector and have lived in Serbia, Kenya and Lebanon. We moved back to Brighton (where we are from) five years ago and can highly recommend the place!

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Our home is over 3 floors with 3 bedrooms, a cosy lounge with wood burner, a large kitchen/diner, a family-size bathroom, a utility kitchen and downstairs toilet, and a lovely outside space with views across the city and up to the South Downs. The house is in the Seven Dials area of the city which has great cafes, pubs, shops and restaurants, and is walking distance from the town centre, the station and 3 of the city's parks (Dyke Road Park, Preston Park and St Anns Wells Gardens). It's a little bit further to the beach, but completely do-able on foot (25 minutes). We are close to a regular bus route that runs down to the seafront/Palace Pier and then along the coast to Saltdean Lido, and in the other direction up to Devil's Dyke on the South Downs.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Our neighbourhood is close to the city centre, yet peaceful and calm. It is on a hill and so has great views over the city, across Preston Park (where the PRIDE in the Park takes place), up to the Downs and down to the sea. The houses are Victorian and streets are typically Victorian Terraces or semi-detached Villas with nice front gardens. There's a corner shop, pub and a community hall which give the area a friendly and neighbourly feel.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
We are a short walk to the cafes, shops, pubs and restaurants around Seven Dials and have two great local pubs - the Chimney House (great food) and The Prestonville Arms (regular music). We're walking distance to Preston Park, Dyke Road Park and St Anns Wells Gardens which all have great cafes and playgrounds, and plenty of events going on in the warmer months. The Booth Natural History Museum is just around the corner. We are also walking distance from the quirky shops of the North Laine (northlaine.co.uk), as well as venues like Komedia, Brighton Dome and the Theatre Royal, and museums like the Brighton Pavilion. We are 10 minutes walk from an independent cinema (Duke of York's at Preston Circus) and 5 minutes walk to a bus route which can take you to the Palace Pier, the i360 observation tower and everything else the seafront has to offer, like watersports, the Volks railway, the Brighton zip wire, the Sealife Centre, Loading gaming bar etc.

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
We'll tidy and clean the house for you so ask that you leave it clean and tidy when you leave. We will of course do the same for you. We have 3 guinea pigs which we can either leave for you to care for or find another home for them for the duration of your stay. We want you to feel at home and comfortable, so only ask that you take care of our stuff the same way you would your own - we're not worried about the odd mishap/broken plate etc.
