Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

We live just two kilometres south of the city centre, in a residential area and on plenty of bus routes. Edinburgh's own volcano Arthur's Seat is on our doorstep so we have great views. Our home has four bedrooms: two double bedrooms (one a sofa bed), and two singles with pull out beds underneath so they can each be twin rooms. We have a decent size south-west facing garden with a swing and trampoline. There are also plenty of toys in the house. We have a driveway with a electric car charger and there is also unrestricted on street parking available.

Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

Edinburgh is a famous tourist destination and all its attractions are easily accessible from our house, either by foot or public transport. The nearest bus stop is a few hundred metres away and services are frequent.
Our neighbourhood is full of houses and bungalows, built in the 1920s, and right next to Holyrood Park and Arthur's Seat so we have excellent views and it doesn't feel too built up. The houses are mainly occupied by young families and retired people and it's a very friendly area.
Very locally there is a large supermarket and other shops including a pharmacy a kilometre away, smaller corner shops even nearer and half a kilometre to the large swimming pool, gym and soft play. The Prestonfield House Hotel is a couple of hundred metres away and is famed for its food.

Attractions

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home

Edinburgh is a very popular destination, particularly for the Festivals that take place in August but also for Christmas and Hogmanay (new year) and the year round attractions such as Edinburgh Castle, the museums, art galleries, Botanic Gardens, Royal Yacht, Cramond Island and Arthur's Seat.
In the wider area there are many places worth visiting including the Pentland hills (or even the Highlands for a day trip if you fancy), the beaches of East Lothian, the Roslin Chapel and Glenkinchie distillery. Other day trip destinations include St Andrew's in Fife; Falkirk for the Wheel and the Kelpies; Glasgow and all it has to offer; the Borders towns such as Melrose and its Abbey or mountain biking at Peebles or Innerleithen; North Berwick and the Sea Bird Centre or boat trips to the Bass Rock in the Firth of Forth; South Queensferry with its view of the famous Forth Bridges. Many of these places can be reached by train as well as bus or car.
