Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

If you want to explore the wonders of Andalucia from the strategically perfect location look no further.

THE TOWN:
La Rambla is a quiet town internationally known for it's artisan ceramics and pottery. If you are interested you could visit the "Ceramic museum" as well as few workshops and expositions where you can watch the "alfareros" making their creations. Their products can also be purchased there for a tenth of it's price elsewhere in Spain.

THE APARTMENT:
Our spacious home is a 4 bedroom 2 baths new built apartment. There is one bedroom with a king size bed and 3 bedrooms with 2 single beds in each. It has a spacious lounge-diner and a large kitchen with a breakfast table.
The apartment is situated in the heart of the town, only 1 min walking distance from shops, bars and restaurants, and 3 mins from the nearest supermarket.

SURROUNDINGS:
The apartment is located in the authentic Andalusian town of La Rambla, just 40 mins South from Cordoba, 1 hr 20 mins East from Sevilla, 1hr 25 mins North from Malaga and 1hr 45 mins West from Granada so perfectly located to explore the culture, the history, the gastronomy, and the Andalusian way of life in the most authentic way.

IMPORTANT:
We believe that it is worthwhile mentioning that during July and August, the temperature in Andalucia can be very extreme, with highs of up to 35-40 degrees. Apart from those two months, the rest of the year is perfect for exploring and enjoying the outdoor life :)

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

La Rambla (CORDOBA):

It is a quiet town of approximately 7,600 people known for their welcoming and friendly spirit.

The apartment is located in the heart of the town, just across the street from the "Museo de la Ceramica", the "Iglesia Mayor" and the local promenade, a lively spot with terraces and bars where locals gather around lunch time as well as in the evenings to enjoy a nice glass of vino or a cold beer whilst socialising with friends and family.

There are a variety of festivities throughout the year, some religious and others not with great participation of the locals such as "La Romeria", "Semana Santa", "Las Cruces", "Los Autos Locos", and various concerts.

It is really important the ceramics and pottery from La Rambla, and in 2018 they will celebrate it's 88th National Ceramics Fair. In addition, it is of great importance as well the local production of Extra Virgin Olive Oil and the wine from Montilla (known as Amontillado, which is a variety of the Sherry).

THE SURROUNDINGS:

La Rambla is in the heart of Andalucia, a fantastic spot to explore the whole of the region.

Only 10km away you can find Montilla, where you can visit their Bodegas and taste their famous wines, the Amontillado, Fino, Oloroso and Pedro Ximenes.

Cordoba is located only 30km from La Rambla, named World Heritage Centre by the UNESCO. It is a must if you want to feel the history and culture of Andalucia, with it's "Gran Mezquita" and the old town. It is also well known for the passion for flamenco as well as la "Fiesta de los Patios", celebrated every May, where people open their homes and gardens for locals and visitors to visit.

Sevilla is 100km away. The famous andalusian capital with it's beautiful old town, the cathedral "La Giralda", the "Archivo de Indias" and "Los Reales Alcazares", all these three sites named World Heritage Centre by the Unesco.

Granada is 160km from the apartment. Visiting the "Alhambra" is an absolute MUST (World Heritage Centre and most visited monument in Spain), as well as the neighbourhoods of "Albayzin" and "El Sacromonte". In addition, Granada is the birthplace of "Tapas" and wherever you go for a drink you get a free meal.

Very close to Granada you can visit Sierra Nevada, the highest mountains in Spain where you can hike or mountainbike in summer and ski or snowboard in winter.

Malaga, the capital of the Costa del Sol is only 110km away. There you can visit the vast pedestrial old town with it's cathedral and important museums such as the "Museo Picasso", the "Museo Tissen" and the "Museo Pompidou". If you like a bit of adventure and thrill you can't miss "El Caminito del Rey".

Apart from the mayor cities, Andalucia is known for it's beautiful towns such as Mijas, Alhama, Las Alpujarras, Ronda, Frigiliana, Vejer de la Frontera to name just a few.
