Barbara and Kai's unique home, with its roof terrace, in the centre of Bamberg is a wonderful place to stay. Barbara's parents met us outside to guide us to the spacious, sunny, welcoming apartment; they and Barbara (in a note) gave us tips on places to see and to eat and to grab coffee (don't get confused by the two Cafe Muellers - the quieter one a block from the main pedestrian area was, to our taste, nicer than the one on the pedestrian throughway). Art, music, architecture abound in this charming city, and day trips to other cities in Bavaria such as Wurzburg, Weimar, Nuremburg and Regensburg were easy by train. The best thing about staying in Bamberg, as opposed to just a day trip, was the chance to experience this wonderful city when the day-trippers departed late afternoon. And after wandering around the picturesque streets, we loved coming back to terrace with its view over the rooftops of Bamberg toward several cathedrals and hills.
