With Homelink, we are preparing for nice exchanges and we are looking at our house and our city, Marseille, with new eyes. Our goal in 2023 (or 2024) ? a long term exchange to improve the way we speak english, in an urban stting where we could take lessons (university ?).
We enjoyed discoveries during our 6 months around the world tour in 2014, and also during our several long hikes in the Alps. We like to see new places and also -paradoxe- to work our garden.
We have two grown-up kids, now working and living on their own.
We are both working as public agents but are trying to preserve (lots of) extra-time to enjoy life without waiting for retirement !

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Our house is a typical 150 years old "bastide", looking upon the northern part of Marseille Bay : you may observe the cruise and freight ships going in and out the port. It is surrounded by a large field, with great trees : pines, almond trees, oak and cedar. These 2,5 acres surroundings are pretty rare so close to the city.
The house displays on the first floor a dining room with various portraits, a living room with TV and hifi set, and a fully equipped kitchen ; 4 bedrooms and a washroom are set at the second floor. There is two toilets, one at each floor. The ceilings are high, the floors made of ancient tiles. The house is 2600 sq feet.
On the outside, you'll find a summer living room with a Weber barbecue, sided by a terrrace, and a pool.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Our neighbourhood is on the side of the hills surrounding the city : the view is quite nice. You have to go downhill to find the proximity stores and bus. You just need a 5 minutes drive to get to a big mall and 7 minutes to the picturesque harbour of l'Estaque, painted by Cezanne and others, and now animated with popular bars and restaurants.
Among places we like : the local farmers saturday market, and the small arty movie theater, close to the petanque (local iron balls game) players.
When you go up and pass the last surroundings houses, you may start short hiking trails : it's the end of the city !
Although the northern part of the city is not the most touristic part, you'll feel very safe at home. It's also very easy to cath the highway going downtown or outside of the city, to the beaches.

A 15 minutes ride leads you to Marseille very city center, at le Vieux Port and the Mucem museum. (you may also go to l'Estaque and take a public system boat).
A 30 minutes ride leads you to the chic city of Aix en Provence, and its XVIIth houses and streets.
