Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

Halden is a small city, near the Swedish border and the beautiful Swedish west coast. We often go there, when we seek beaches and do often bring our kayaks. There are lots of small fishing villages and nice small islands – you can go there with kayak ore by different boats that are trafficking the area. We do not live fare from Oslo, the capital in Norway. You can travel there by car, bus or train, in less than 2 hours. Gothenburg (Sweden) is also close – and you can drive to Denmark and Copenhagen, if you would like that – in 5-6 hours.
Our city’s largest tourist attraction is Fredriksten Fortress – an ancient old fortress. The town has many small, nice restaurants – which you can walk through the woods if you would like that. We often do that, then we need good shoes and nice weather.
The surroundings, we appreciate a lot. Both around our hose, as well as around the city of Halden, there are large areas with untouched nature.
Our house was new in 2014, and we appreciate a lot to live in it. We wish our exchange families a warm welcoming!

Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

We live in a new housing estate, where it is increasingly coming up new houses. We moved into our house in February 2015. The residential area is situated in beautiful nature, with woods, hiking trails and access to the sea. The path down to the sea, where there are some small beaches, is steep, but it is possible to walk down the to the sea - you can also walk into the city centre on this path. The house is situated with beautiful views to the west, with unspoiled nature close up. To the city center it is approximately 3 km. Here are shops, shopping, cafes and restaurants. In the weekends and during the summer there are often concerts around the city harbor.
