Stine and Geir were friendly superhosts : they made a creative video instruction manual and let us feel at home in their adorable en cosy house. They give us many tips for visits and hikings in the surroundings of Oslo. Thanks to them we had a pleasant mix of the peace and quiet of nature around the house and the interesting places in the city of Oslo. When we got back we found our home clean. Again we had a wonderfull home exchange. Thank you very much Stine and Geir.

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Our home, a red wooden detached house, consists of three floors: Main floor with entrance, spacious kitchen and livingroom. Second floor has one bathroom a bedroom with one bed, a second room where additional matresses on the floor can be arranged. Basementfloor has a bedrom with one doublebed, a larger bathroom with laundery facilities. The stairs in the house are somewhat steep, so we do not recommend our home for the youngest toddlers. There is a patio with a garden and a barbeque . We have two smart TVs, outdoor equipment you can borrow, like bikes, skiis, ice skates, fishing gear, packrafts, tents, hammocks etc.
* Summer 2024: We have made homelink-arrangements for this period*

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
We live in the area called Bøler. Eventhough located in the capital and biggest city in Norway, our home has green surroundings situated close to the woods. There are two nearby lakes- perfect for taking a swim early in the morning or before sun sets. There are many popular forest hiking trails nearby, a local farm 10 minutes away and a large sports field.
Our neighbourhood at Bøler is quiet and safe for childeren. Our neighbourhood consists mostly of families. Loud music and parties are very rear. There are two close grocery stores, one is a 2 minute walk, the other 5 minutes away. There is also a larger shopping mall close to the metro station.
City center is reached in 20 minutes by metro, 10 minutes by car. Bøler is 50 minutes from airport by car, and there is a direct airport shuttlebus every hour.
Winter: The skiing opportunities are really good, especially if you enjoy cross country skiing. Strap your skiis on just outside our front door and disappear into the woods. Nøklevann lake is great for beginners in cross country skiing, and is also popular for ice skating.
Spring: The warmer weather starts from April. Easter holiday is a calm and peaceful time in Oslo, as many heads for the snowy mountains.
Summer: Relax by the forest lakes, borrow our tents and outdoor equipment and go camping.
Fall: Oslo in September/early October is cosy with its crisp air and darker days. Relax by our fireplace at home. Fall is perfect for forest hiking, gathering blueberries and mushrooms in the surrounding forest.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
Main attractions nearby are the two forest lakes close to our home. Both great for swimming and packrafting (you can borrow ours, we have two). It is popular to go camping in the forest all year with tent, without tent or with hammocks. In the winter these lakes are dotted with families enjoying skiing, skating, eating meals outside by the campfires.
There is a popular outdoor climbing site nearby, called Hauktjern. If you are into climbing - we also recommend Oslo indoor climbing center- 10 minutes by car, 25 minutes walk.
From our house there is a 10 minute walk to the nearest metrostation, which takes you downtown Oslo in 20 minutes.
By car you can drive to the Oslo fjord beaches in 15 minutes. There are many popular beaches by the sea in Oslo, also right in the city centre.
Enjoy Oslo's amusementpark: Tusenfryd, 15 minutes by car.
Bobos pizza: The local, but famous pizza take away, 10 minute walk.
If you have younger kids:
* Bøler bad (swimming pool) 10 minute walk
* Leos lekeland (big indoor playground) 5 minutes by car, 20 minute walk
* Sørli besøksgård (local animal farm open Saturdays) 10 minute walk

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
It is important for us that guests leave our home clean and tidy after a stay. Parties and loud music is not possible because of our neighbours. Our garden is easy to water in the summer. We have a cat who needs to be fed and cuddled with. During the daytime she uses a cat door and strolls around in the neighbourhood. Our small fish tank is very easy to feed.
* Summer 2024: We are looking for a family who would like to stay in our home July 4 - July 15 and take care of our cat, as we have made holiday plans for this period. We can make an agreement of a non-simultanously exchange. We are also open to let a homelink-family stay in our home without the exchange*
