Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

Our cosy thatched roof house was built in 2012. We fell in love with the charming style, the enormous fireplace, the authentic kitchen floor, the living kitchen and high ceilings.
All our 20 neighbours moved in around the same time in this small quarter in the woody area with squirrels, foxes, owls and deer. It’s very quiet and silent at night, close to a supermarket, butcher, fresh bakery, drugstore, flower shop, pharmacy, cheese store, snack bar, hairdresser, kiosk, hair and beauty shop at Overhees. Or larger stores at Soest Zuid (plein van zuid) 2 kilometers drive or Burgemeester Grothestraat, van Weedestraat (3 kilometers drive)

Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

Our small neighborhood (2012) is very quiet, located close to the Soesterduinen (dunes) and forests (7 minute walk). A beautiful area for walks, cycling, running, looking for deer, owls, squirrels, foxes, etc. And close to a small railway station to Utrecht (18 minute ride), Amsterdam Central Station (60 minute ride), Schiphol International Airport (66 minute ride), no parking fee required. www.ns.nl, also as app available.

Soest is famous for its former royal palace Soestdijk of Queen Juliana and Prince Bernard (www.paleissoestdijk.nl). Nowadays it's open for the public, has a restaurant and has different exhibitions, concerts, old car rally, etc.
Nearby in Baarn is also Castle Groeneveld (www.kasteelgroeneveld.nl), open for the public, with a restaurant, nice exhibitions and a large parc with ponds.

There are all sorts of shops and an open air market (flowers, fruit, vegetables) on Thursday in Soest. www.hollandsemarkten.nl. Open air markets are also in Amersfoort (Saturday, Friday only flowers and plants) and Baarn (Tuesday).

There is a large variety of restaurants, pubs/café's,

- Castle Groeneveld (in Baarn), with Sunday classical concerts, food markets, expositions, etc. Details and data at www.kasteelgroeneveld.nl
- Culture can be found at cultural centre The Paltz. This large old estate in the forest is initiated by singer, actor and artist Herman van Veen. Sunday concerts, performances, exhibitions.
