For fans of Lord of the Rings films, many filming locations are in and around Wellington. Weta workshops and Park Road studios are based in Wellington.

Visit Zealandia, an inner city native bird and wildlife sanctuary. From Wellington’s public cable car, stroll in the Botanical gardens or make a walk down at the waterfront. The historic village of Thorndon is a neighbouring suburb. All are in easy distance from our home.

Our Preferences

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules

Presently we are concentrating our exchanges in New Zealand only. We have a trip planned for UK and Netherlands this year and have accommodation all sorted.

We've been a member since 2011 and have had 18 exchanges - 4 in Europe, 4 in Canada, 3 in Australia and 7 in New Zealand. We look after our exchange partner's home as if it were our own and have found this to be returned in kind. We have compiled a comprehensive room-to-room house guide and tips for living in our home. Ahead of the exchange, we email the guide to our exchange partner for reading and for any questions about our home. We have found that some of our exchange partners have done the same and this works very well.

We have found that exchanges work smoothly when there has been plenty of contact between the parties ahead of time and this is the way we prefer to prepare for the exchange.
