Description of the home we are offering for exchange
MEMBERS SINCE 2004. (19 exchanges.)
Our new home has an elevated sunny location with sea & mountain views. Nelson is the sunshine capital of NZ, a vibrant little city of 50,000 prettily placed at the north end of the South Island. Three National Parks - Abel Tasman, Nelson Lakes and Kahurangi are within an hour's drive and the Taste Nelson Cycleway is five minutes ride away. Nelson is a popular seaside holiday destination with two safe sandy beaches. Vineyards, winebars and good restaurants are part of the scene. We are two and a half hours drive from Picton and the ferry to Wellington and the North Island.
There is an independent bed-sit in the downstairs part of the house which we could live in if anyone wants a non-simultaneous exchange. We would be available for any advice but would not get in your way! The main house has private separate level entry, parking, garden, laundry Etc. Garden is laid out and becoming established but is still a work in progress! 3 patio areas.

Setting
Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
A quiet cul-de-sac with friendly neighbours and a semi rural outlook. Mountainous backdrop.
Strenuous walks to the Richmond foothills just across the road, easy 30 minute walk to Richmond town centre or 5 minute drive; plenty of shopping. Nelson city is 15-20 mins by car, Nelson Airport about 15 minutes. Very safe swimming beaches at Rabbit Island and Tahunanui both about 15 minutes drive.
Great choice of cafes, vineyards, restaurants within easy distance, Fossil Ridge is about 5 mins walk. The region is a centre for farming, fishing, horticulture and wine and the eateries reflect a high standard of hospitality in a friendly and informal setting.
If you want activity in the form of cycling, walking, swimming and water sports there is plenty of opportunity. See below.
Most Nelsonians will tell you this is pretty close to living in paradise!

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
There are plenty of cafes, restaurants and vineyards of a high standard. A few are noted below, but you should never have to go short of a coffee in this region!
The scenery is a major attraction and there are plenty of opportunities to get into it. There are three national parks within a fairly short drive, Nelson Lakes, Kahurangi and Abel Tasman. Great walking opportunities and also cycling on the fast developing cycleways. The Abel Tasman track and Heaphy track are both world renowned, but there are many more opportunities. Golden Bay is only a little over an hour's drive. There are several golf clubs, and opportunities for kayaking and sailing. Visitors can be as active as they like or just soak up the sun, scenery and ambience and good food!

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
We will leave our home clean and tidy for our exchange partners. We expect them to leave it clean and tidy for us!
We expect to make email and/or phone contact before finalizing details. We have always found discussion and a little negotiation to be mutually beneficial. In 16 exchanges we have only been let down once!
