Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

MEMBERS SINCE 2001, 25 exchanges all over the wonderful world meeting lots of homelinkers. Our house is in a very quiet area and we are 10-15 mins walking distance to shops, Saturday market, city centre, art galleries and glass blowing gallery. 15 mins drive to beach and 10 mins to small lake. Wanganui River activities: paddle steamer cruise, canoeing, jet sprints. Maori history, heritage buildings, Maori & riverboat museums, bush walks, Virginia Lake (small lake in city).

Wanganui is 2.5 hours north of Wellington on west coast of the north island, 1.5 hours south of Mt Ruapehu, or 2 hours east of Mt Egmont/Taranaki. We take our visitors on a local drive around if wanted. We can Skype to finalise details if you wish.

We visit Christchurch each year, and plan to travel down to Blenheim and Dunedin in 2016. Wellington, New Plymouth okay as well for long weekends.

Master Games 2017 & Vintage Car Rally 2016 will be in Wanganui, so stay with us. We look forward to hearing from you.

Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

We are in a cul de sac with 24 houses so lovely and quiet yet close to town. Our house is a 10 minute walk from the CBD and a 5 minute drive from Wanganui River and the shops and heritage buildings. Wanganui Virginia Lake is a great place to visit and walk around and is located 5 minutes away. If you are coming to events like the Motorbike Cemetry Circuit or the Masters Games you can walk to the events and save the hassle of parking. Cooks Gardens, Jubilee Stadium and Splash Centre are within walking distance.
We have great neighbours who would help you out. Our street has mostly retired people, with a few who are still working but mainly like us 60s+.
The beach is rugged with interesting black sand - this is 15 minutes away. A unique elevator goes up inside a hill to a lookout tower. The city has a strong arts, culture & heritage focus- it was one of the first cities settled in NZ. Down by the river you can visit the Saturday market or walk the bridges stopping or stop at a café
