Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

We live on Addison Park, a designer development to the south of Auckland. It is a quiet neighborhood with plenty of green spaces and lakes.
Close to local facilities and only 15 mins to Auckland city with it's theatres, concert halls, art galleries and museums not to mention the fabulous shopping. We are 5 minutes from the local rail station which takes you directly into Auckland City Centre.

Auckland is known as the City of Sails and the harbour and Hauraki Gulf are a mecca for boating enthusiasts. We are close to the motorways to the winterless north and central north island tourist areas of Taupo and Rotorua and the mountains and ski fields. We are a 10 minute drive from a large shopping centre which includes restaurants and cinemas and 15 minutes drive from the largest mall in New Zealand (Sylvia Park) and an outlet shopping centre. Raglan is an hour to the west with rugged scenery and awesome surfing.

Attractions

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home

It is only a short walk to our local cafes and shops, with a fabulous pub/restaurant. Local restaurants provide for all tastes from Subway to Thai, Kiwi roast to Indian. We also have a large supermarket and pharmacy within a 10 minute walk (2 minute drive).
Manukau is only a 10 minute drive away and has a large and varied shopping mall along with a multiplex cinema. Across the road from that is Rainbows End - New Zealand's biggest theme park.
Our house is located next to Bruce Pulman park, a large public sports space which houses practice facilities for many national sports teams. We also have local indoor/outdoor swimming pool facilities.
It is a short drive to the coast where there is ample opportunity to fish, swim, surf and generally have fun on the water.
Auckland city centre has many theatres and concert venues covering everything from opera to rock, drama to musicals, comedy and cabaret. Museums and galleries abound.
