Mijn man( Bram) en ik wonen , nu onze kinderen al een aantal jaren op eigen benen staan, nog met z’n tweeën in huis.
Bram is onlangs met pensioen gegaan, ik werk nog vol enthousiasme in het onderwijs. Vandaar dat we met vakanties nog afhankelijk zijn van de schoolvakanties in regio Noord. Al jaren kamperen we in de zomervakanties in Frankrijk en Italië. Vorig zomer ging de buitenlandvakantie i.v.m. Covid 19 niet door. We besloten een fietsvakantie te maken van Meppel naar Maastricht. We hebben toen voor het eerst gebruik gemaakt van het fenomeen “ vrienden op de fiets”. Het was ontzettend leuk. Daarom hebben we nu besloten de volgende stap te zetten en mee te doen met huizenruil.

Description of the home we are offering for exchange
We live in Meppel, in a lovely house , build in and around 1930. In the past 2 years the house has been completely renovated, from top to bottom. The house is full of light and it’s very cosy. Upstairs there are two bedrooms and a bathroom. Each bedroom has a two persons bed. A baby bed is also available in case you have a little one. In the attic there is also a room with a double bed
Downstairs also has a bathroom.
The downstairs bedroom is currently serving as a study..The house has a garden witch surrounds the house and a shed in witch you can park your bikes. The driveway has more than enough room to park at least two cars

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Meppel is a nice little and friendly town in the provence of Drenthe. It is also called “Amsterdam of the North” This because of the rich history that Meppel used to have with Amsterdam,via the water. In Meppel you will also find streetnames around the canals that also occur in Amsterdam
The city centre is only a 5 minute bike ride away from our home. There are lots of squares with nice bar’s, café’s and restaurants. There is a little museum about printing technique and there are two mills in the centre . In one of them you can buy flour to bake your own fresh bread
Meppel is also home to a lot of nice shops and if you can’t find what you are looking for, Zwolle is only a 20 kilometer drive away.
We have a nice parc(5 minutes walk from our home), a swimmingpool, theatre and cinema.
If you like cycling then Meppel is the place for you. We have a lot of cycling paths .
Meppel is surrounded by beautiful “Drents” scenery which includes meadows, forests and our world famous “dolmens”, which are located in Havelte and in other places in the Provence of Drenthe. There is even a dolmenshigway.
If you are more of a water person, Giethoorn is only 15 kilometers away. Giethoorn is known as the Dutch Venice and is visited by thousands of tourists every year.
Here you can rent an assortment of different boats and you can explore the waterways al by yourself.
You can even reach the “Wieden” and the “ Weerribben” by boat. These are some of Hollands most iconic national parcs and home to lots of wildlife.
In Holland everything is nearby. The trainstation is less then 1 km from our home. From there you can go directly to Amsterdam(1,5 hour) Rotterdam and Den Haag or Utrecht.
In the North are two beautiful large cities Groningen and Leeuwarden(Europian capital of 2018) Both cities approximately 1 hour travel time.
All in all there is a lot to see and do in and around Meppel
