Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Canada's "Third Best Place To Live"! (https://tinyurl.com/3rdbest-is-better) Neither smug like #1 or jealous like #2, Oak Bay is proud to be #3 and it shows. Well-paved roads, leisure centres open late, lots of big-square-plate type restaurants, even a tiny independent police force with little to do but plenty of new vehicles to do it in — these are just some of the benefits that flow from Oak Bay's famously abundant yearly tax harvest. That bounty is a traditional gift from Oak Bay's small but thriving communities of rich people. From the reticent yet acquisitive giant-home dwellers of picturesque Cattle Point, to the horizon-gazing sea folk of the waterfront properties, the wealthy have always been part of Oak Bay's charm. Also, we have the best beaches in Victoria, a university shared with some other municipality just north, I think 2 golf courses — and Victoria city centre is always just 15 minutes away, for slumming.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
Walk from our house to a sandy beach, with views across the Salish sea to the Olympia mountains. A little further to rocky tide pools hiding sea creatures, to a seaside golf course, marina, restaurants, tennis courts, restaurants, and more. Half a block away buses leave every quarter hour or less to take you downtown in less than 15 minutes.
