We are retired executives aged 65 and 68. We have 3 children, all gainfully employed and living in their own spaces. We live on the waterfront at the North Arm of the Fraser River in Vancouver. These waters are plied by many tugboats quietly hauling timbers up and down the waterways. We have a 2 bedroom apartment here with 8 km of walking/cycling/jogging paths along the river together with a gym within the building. Groceries, banks, Sushi, ‘Everything Wine’ off license, pizza and pub are all within a short walking distance (for one of the finest burgers ever with a craft ale, glass of wine or cocktail is Romers is +/- 90 seconds west of our front door). We are 10 kms from YVR international airport (19 minutes by car; 47 minutes by transit) and 14 kms from Canada Place on Vancouver's downtown harbour. Canada Place /City access is easiest via the “Canada Line” train which runs every 3 mins and takes 30 mins to get downtown from our nearest station (Marine Gateway). We usually drive to the station (10-15 min drive or 20 min bus). Vancouver is a gorgeous walkabout city with lots of tourism and cruising activities in the summer months (May - October).
We also have a recreational 12 ac waterfront property in Merritt BC close to the Okanagan with all its wineries and farm produce (bestest freshest peaches in the world if you can get to Osoyoos in August). Here we have a parked motor home available for our guests.
We have exchange experience in Britain when our children were younger and all
had a wonderful time. Life just got too busy for arranging further exchanges so we are now re-entering exchanges with more time to enjoy all the benefits.
