We are a couple in our 60s, with three adult children and two young grandchildren. Dan is a retired locomotive engineer, Liz is a writer/editor. We also help out with our son's urban tour business, with locations in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and Quebec City.
Our interests are generally "arty;" we particularly love live music, but we're also drawn to film, theatre, local history, architecture, and urban design. And of course, travel! We like to be outdoors and active, which is a good thing, given that we have in our later years embraced a low-impact, pedestrian lifestyle. Our interest in a London, UK home exchange stems from our desire to spend some extended time with our youngest daughter, who is now based in London.

Setting
Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Tucked conveniently between Bloor St. and College St., two of inner Toronto's main east-west commercial corridors, our neighbourhood is quintessentially Toronto--that is, a little bit of everything and everyone, and a whole lot of harmony. Our west-side (still pretty central) location is variously known by its heritage (Little Italy, Little Portugal), its commercial district (Bloorcourt), its signature parks (Dufferin Grove, Trinity-Bellwoods), and its "hip" factor (Lower Ossington). Although our ground-floor flat is located on a short residential stretch of Ossington Avenue, there are cafés, bars, restaurants, craft breweries, and quirky independent shops close by, and in every direction. We walk/bike everywhere, but the "TTC" bus is outside the door, and the main subway line is less than a block away, so getting to the heart of downtown is quick and easy.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
From our location, just about every well-known Toronto attraction is within easy reach, and some of the best restaurants and live music venues in the city are within walking distance. When it comes to food, Toronto is famous for its ethnic variety, and our area has it all.
Bonus: If you visit between late April and early November, we can offer you a free "get to know" Toronto cycle tour with our son's well-known tour company, "Fitz Tours." (He also operates in Montreal, Ottawa, and Quebec City--same offer!)
We'll be happy to give you a detailed list of hot spots and attractions, based on your interests and preferences.
For out-of town trips, Union Station, the central station for Canada's passenger rail service, VIA Rail, is a 20-minute cab/Uber or subway ride away. And here's a pro tip for sensible travellers: From our place, you can get to Toronto Pearson Airport in about 45 minutes for $3.25 CDN/£1.90 ($2.15/£1.25 if you're a senior), by taking the "TTC" (Toronto transit) subway/airport bus combination.

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
We simply expect that we would care well for one another's home. Maintenance at our place is fairly minimal, other than standard housekeeping and putting out trash/recycling on a weekly basis. We have not had any pets in our unit; there is full air conditioning for summer weather, and central electric heat for winter, both fully controllable. We live on the lower two floors of a duplex house; a pleasant professional couple lives in the upper unit, and we share an entrance hall; we would expect our guests to continue our good relationship with our upstairs neighbours.
