We are Janet and Peter, retired education professionals, who are looking forward to exploring more of the world by exchanging our homes in Dorset, England and Lake Maggiore,Italy. We are experienced exchangers who have thoroughly enjoyed both the opportunity to live as a local in another country, but also to share the beautiful places we know.
We love both cities and countryside, and are keen walkers. We are vegetarians, love our food, and are always on the lookout for interesting places to eat!

To us this is very important, as we usually always stay in bigger cities, even New York, where we have close family. So cosy to sit with the cat in the sofa, planning the car trip of the day. No problems driving left traffic. Just take it slowly. A nice and spacious house!

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Our flat is in Bureglio, itself a small corner of the larger village of Vignone. We are right in the historical centre of the village, which means that you cannot drive right up to the flat by car, as the streets are far too narrow. You park in the village car park and walk to it (5 minutes). Vignone is up the mountain from the shore of Lake Maggiore. Vignone has a small shop, chemist, post office and doctor, as well as a regular bus service which takes you up or down the mountain. There are beautiful views and walks from the village, with mountains all around and the lake below.

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
Our nearest town is Intra, on Lake Maggiore. It takes about 10 minutes by bus or car, and about 45 to walk, which we often do as it is downhill! There is a wide selection of shops, cafes and restaurants in Intra, in addition to a ferry service which goes to various other towns on the lake. It holds a hugely popular Saturday market, people travel for miles to come. It is easy to get to Cannobio, Stresa or Laveno, by bus, car or ferry, and we are about 40 minutes from the Swiss border if you feel like a trip to Switzerland! Locarno is the nearest Swiss city. Lake Orta is about 45 minutes away. In summer there is a bus which goes from Intra to Milan, though you can also get the train from Stresa or drive. It takes about 1 hour and a half.
We spend a lot of time walking there, as routes through the mountains are generally well marked, but we also spend a great deal of time sitting on the balcony reading books in the sunshine looking out over the incredible views.
Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules
We hope that you have a good time in Bureglio, and ask that you return our house to us as you found it.
