Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

Lovely three bedroom home in safe and quiet coastal neighbourhood close to Dublin city and the airport. It is a great base for visiting Dublin and the rest of Ireland and a wonderful location for outdoor activities.

We have three bedrooms and an office with high speed broadband. The main bedroom has a very comfortable superking bed. The second bedroom has a king size bed and our large loft room has a double bed. We also have a single put up bed and can leave you a travel cot and other baby equipment.

The office (box room) has a desk and comfortable office chair and a wired or wifi high speed broadband connection. Our kitchen is well equipped with all mod cons, including a dishwasher and lots of cooking equipment. We have two living areas, one at the front with a large TV and sofa and a sunny room off the kitchen with a 2-seater sofa. The TV has freesat satelite, netflix and amazon prime. Our bathroom has an electric shower and a separate bath. We have a sunny south-facing back garden. There is plenty of free on-street parking outside the house.

We are new to this site but we are AirBnB superhosts and have a 5* rating on AirBnB for this house. We can share that listing with you if you would like to check our reviews. We have also completed 12 very successful exchanges through another website.

Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

Our home is in peaceful coastal suburb along Dublin bay, 20 minutes from Dublin city centre and Dublin airport.

The house is located in a quiet residential cul de sac. However, it is just a 5 minute walk from the coastal promenade, shops, Aldi supermarket, Centra, and local restaurants.

There is a train station just three minutes walk away and a bus stop five minutes walk away to connect you to Dublin city, local coastal villages and the rest of Ireland. A car is really not necessary but if you do bring one there is free parking outside the house. You can rent Bleeper bikes outside the DART station.

It is a great area for children, with several playgrounds and lots of outdoor activities within walking distance. The one in St Annes Park has a very large playground for all ages, a mountain bike track and a zipline. There are also great indoor activities nearby, including a bowling alley, cinema and indoor play gym.

Attractions

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home

Our house is close to Dublin city centre, with its main attractions and public transport connections to the rest of Ireland. The weather in Dublin is usually mild year round and there are lots of great places near us to walk, hike, cycle, do watersports, play golf, go horse riding etc.

Getting around:
Our home is just 3 minutes walk from Bayside DART train station and 5 minutes walk from the bus stop. Take the train or bus to the city to go shopping, visit top attractions or relax in St Stephen’s Green. Or visit nearby seaside villages such as Sutton (1 stop), Howth (2 stops), Malahide (4 stops) and Clontarf. You can also take the DART to the Southside to visit Blackrock, Dun Laoghaire and Sandycove. The airport is 20 minutes away by taxi (€25 fare) or one hour by public transport (€2 per person with a Leap card).

Walking & cycling:
We are less than 5 minutes walk from the 10km coastal promenade that runs from Sutton to Clontarf. Walk or cycle off-road to visit Dollymount beach, St Annes Park or Clontarf. You can rent bikes outside Bayside train station using the Bleeper Active app.
Nearby Howth has a beautiful harbour and marina and several great walks including a stunning cliff walk and a hill and forest walk. Malahide with its lively village, marina, castle and gardens is also well worth a visit.

Day trips:
Dublin city is very small and can easily be covered on foot. You can also take day trips by tour bus from the city centre to other parts of Ireland. Popular ones include Glendalough in Wicklow, Belfast and the giants causeway in Northern Ireland and the Cliffs of Moher in Clare.

Beaches & watersports:
There are several great beautiful beaches and swimming spots nearby - Burrow / Claremont beach (3.5km away), Dollymount (4km), the famous Silver Strand in Portmarnock (6km) and Balscadden beach in Howth (6km). Burrow Beach and Dollymount are very popular for watersports. You can also do sea kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding from the harbour in Howth or learn to sail with Sutton Dinghy Club. There is a great local watersports company called www.puremagic.ie

Activities for children:
Bayside is a great area for children. The closest playground is just a two minute walk from the house and there are several others within walking distance. It is also a 7 minute bus ride or 9 minute drive to a very large playground in St Annes Park which has lots of play equipment for all ages, a mountain bike track and a zipline.

Golf:
There are also several golf courses nearby, including Howth, Sutton, Portmarnock and St Annes, all of which have beautiful sea views.

Ferry to Ireland’s Eye:
From Howth you can also take a ferry to Island’s Eye and into Dublin City.

Food & drink:
There are two great restaurants within 5 minutes walk. Howth is home to over 20 restaurants and is particularly good for seafood. Buy fish and chips and eat them in front of the beautiful harbour. Or stay home and take the night off, ordering a delivery from my one of 35 local take aways.
Visit the Bayside Inn for a quiet local pint or soak up the atmosphere in Howth or Dublin city.
