Our Home For Exchange

Description of the home we are offering for exchange

Our charming , beautifully kept cottage has 3 reception rooms downstairs, 3 small bedrooms and one bathroom upstairs.
It is nicely decorated, colourful and cosy, all year round, with an open fire in the open plan main room/ kitchen area and a wood burning stove in the Sunroom. We also have oil fired central heating.
We have quite a large garden, which includes a tree house, a stream and an old famine cottage.
There are several sitting areas around the garden, so you can follow the sun and the shade throughout the day, while enjoying the mountain views.
Our nearest neighbour is a farm, with the magic of seeing lambs born in the field next door every Spring! In Summer, the cows and their babies in the field in front keep us company!
We spend a lot of time here so it's more a second home than a holiday home.
Birdsong, the odd tractor, and absolute peace are guaranteed

Neighbourhood

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area

The cottage is in a very quiet rural area, midway between the fishing village of Castletownbere down the road and the pretty colourful village of Eyeries up the road. It is about 3 kms to either one. Nearby towns and villages worth a visit are Adgroom, Allihies, Bantry, Glengariff, Kenmare, Clonakilty, Schull, Crookhaven, and Skibbereen
We are on the Cork / Kerry border so it's an ideal location to use as a base to explore the beauty of County Cork and also of County Kerry.
The 3 Cork peninsulas-Beara, Sheep's Head, and Mizen are all equally beautiful, empty, rugged and usually tourist free.
The 2 Kerry Peninsulas are better known.- Dingle and Iveragh/ Ring of Kerry.

Our Preferences

Our home exchange - here are our Preferences and House Rules

We would expect you to clean and tidy our house before you leave.
We would expect our home to be treated with respect, during your stay and of course we would be equally careful and respectful of your home and your possessions.
We can put you in contact with a local cleaning lady who should be hired to do the deeper clean up, after you leave.
We would also need to agree on having anyone other than
yourselves staying in the cottage.
