Description of the home we are offering for exchange
Particularly interested in exchanges in Ireland -simultaneous, non-simultaneous or weekend exchanges.
The house is attractive, compact, 3 storied, semi-detached and located in one of the most scenic parts of Ireland.
It has two bedrooms, one of which is for exchange and a study cum spare bedroom. It is tastefully decorated to a high standard as this is owner occupied. The house has oil-fired central heating and an open fireplace in the sitting room and smart heating and lighting controls. The ground floor comprises a small hallway, sitting room, kitchen cum dining room and a small vestibule and downstairs w.c. The sitting room has a TV, DVD player, good WiFi and cable tv connections, with French doors leading to the dining cum kitchen area. A new kitchen was installed this year with excellent quality appliances including fridge freezer, single oven, combination microwave oven, warming drawer, and integrated dishwasher.
The guest bedroom, with full en-suite bathroom is located on the top floor. A study on the second floor contains a futon which can, if required, be used as a second bedroom.
To the rear of the house is a small deck with shed containing washer/dryer and opening onto common ground behind the house. There is a Weber gas BBQ and patio dining set. The deck can be accessed through French doors in the bay window. While the outside area is small, we ‘borrow’ from the beautiful surroundings to provide an extended garden. The river, which is fenced off, runs behind the house and in turn has the angling lake just behind it. That entire area is a public park and provides a lovely space to stroll or just sit and watch the world go by. There is parking for 2 cars in front of the house.
Located in Aughrim, Co. Wicklow (The Garden of Ireland) - lovely village with many amenities locally. Lots to see and do (http://www.aughrim.ie and http://www.visitwicklow.ie). Convenient for day trips to Dublin (45 mi) but beautiful to stay around. The village has a post office, butcher, pharmacy, three shops/mini marts, Petrol pumps, a cafe, two take-away restaurants, a hotel. In addition, Brook Lodge at Macreddin is a very nice ‘concept village’.approx. 2.5 k. outside village, containing hotel, two specialty restaurants, pub and microbrewery, stables etc.
Ideally situated for golf, hill walking and fishing with blue flag beach 15kms away. This is a really beautiful area and, while there any many walks which can be followed, every place is worth looking at.
Genuinely interested in suggestions and offers, especially short trips to other parts of Ireland.

Description of our neighbourhood and surrounding area
Beautiful village / small town in the idyllic ‘Garden of Ireland’. See www.aughrim.ie for general details and also www.wicklow.ie for the wider area. The nearest large town for shopping is Arklow, 14k away which has 5 supermarkets (Dunnes Stores, Aldi, Tesco, Lidl, SuperValu) plus smaller shops and mini markets. It has a shopping centre with Omniplex Cinema, a small theatre plus a hotel, garages, various hardware stores etc. Aughrim is just over an hour from Dublin by car, means the capital city is very accessible - but there is also public transport from nearby towns. About 15-20 minutes from the sea plus hills and mountains abound - a Mecca for walking. Woodenbridge Golf Course in the beautiful Vale of Avoca is 6-8 minutes away, while Brook Lodge at Macreddin is just 2km from the village. Wonderful monthly organic market, spa, organic and Italian restaurants plus micro brewery. And to work off all those calories, we have a tennis court on site. You may gather that we love where we live, but we also love to travel and see new places ...... Contact us to find out more !!!,

Our home exchange - places to go and things to do while staying in our home
Short walk to Main Street of village with shops, cafe, restaurant, pharmacy, butcher, pubs and local hotel. Local community Centre has a market every Saturday morning with a cafe to recover from shopping while overlooking bowling green. On the first Sunday of every month from April to October, Brook Lodge at Macreddin hosts an excellent Farmer’s Market where you can stroll, buy excellent produce, sip a glass of Prosecco while listening to a Jazz session (or not, if Jazz isn’t your thing). Brook Lodge also has a microbrewery, bakery and shop, spa, riding centre and sits in a magical setting. The Aughrim river runs through the village and into lake with angling facility. The village nestles among the picturesque Wicklow Hills and is close to Avoca, which was the location for the Ballykissangel TV series. A little further away is the village of Redcross where Mickey Finn’s Bistro and Microbrewery is the place for good food and award winning artisan beers. Tours of the microbrewery and possible and it hosts music sessions, both traditional and contemporary.
