We spent two weeks in Bonnie and Huub's lovely house. It is tastefully decorated and although it is small, it looks spacious and we felt very comfortable. The cute but fully equipped guest house in the garden offered us the best conditions for a relaxed holiday with our teenage daughter, her friend and a few days our adult daughter and her boyfriend. The house was very clean and Bonnie and Huub provided us with a perfect guest information pack with all information about the house and lots of tips for the area. The place Castricum offers a perfect infrastructure for vacation. It was also important to us that the teenagers could do something independently. The train station, from which you can reach Alkmaar, Amsterdam, Haarlem in about 30 minutes, is within walking distance. In the village there are not only all shops for daily needs, but also small fashion, second-hand or lifestyle shops as well as ice cream and restaurants. The most beautiful thing for us was the directly adjacent "Duinreservaat", a nature reserve through which you can reach the beach in about 15 minutes by bike and endless bike rides along the coast. Our greatest discovery in Amsterdam was the NDSM wharf in Amsterdam, an art district with street art and cafes. We were in trusting contact with our exchange partners during and after the holiday. We had such a good time in Bakkum. The comfortable house, the garden and the guest house invite to relax. We liked it very much to go by bike to the beach with the landscape of the dunes. We could choose between silent places and the main beach with infrastructure. We visited Alkmaar several times because of the canals, boats,cafes and houses. It looks like in Amsterdam, but much calmer. We went to Harlem and the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam too, it is so easy to reach by train. It is really a place to be with the beaches and interesting cities nearby. Thanks Bonnie, Huuper and Kees for this exchange.

We stayed in Bonnie and Huub's lovely home in the coastal area of Holland. Just lucky the tulips were still flowering. Enjoyed every minute of it: cycling to the beach, flying kites, just sit in the little but lovely garden. Thank you for the pleasant exchange.

We had such a nice homeexchange. Thank you Bonnie and Huub for a very relaxing familyholliday. We where able to use the bikes and it was perfect because we felt like locals. Everything is just a couple of biking minuts away. The beaches are beautiful no matter if you prefer a quite one or one with all the infrastructur you might need. 15-20 min biking will get you there. Since our daughter is still young and due to Covid we mad no big excursions but the trainstation is about 5-8min walk away and there is a regular connaction to Amsterdam or Alkmaar. The Dunes between the beach and the villages go all along the cost and you can very easy cycle anywhere. We loved the house. Everything was so well organized and and cosy. The garden is not big but very nice. We had to get used to the very steep stair (a very dutch thing) but had no problem there. Thank you again for having us.
